The Isle of Storms

"A great winged terror known to the people of Umbar as a Roc has been seen attacking ships sailing off the Cape of Umbar, swamping them with terrible winds and plucking the hapless crew out of the water.
The lords of Umbar have requested that you find the nesting place of this monstrous bird and drive it from the Shield Isles.
The Roc is believed to be roosting upon a deserted isle in the far reaches of the archipelago, once a haunt for pirates and brigands. Rumours say that they were driven out by strange and monstrous creatures, far greater in size than any beast should be...."

Instance Overview

Walk-through and Tactics

Confirmed up to tier 3 so far, this instance can be completed with a well geared tank and two damage dealers, although a healer makes it easier.

Above tier 3 it may need some supplemental heals from another class, although lore master is sufficient support.

Boss 1

Tier 3+

At random times throughout the fight the boss will perform a grey bar, then flood a sizeable area of the arena with poison. While the grey bar is going on it is important to run away.

The main challenge within this fight is keeping the disease and wound effects off the tank. This is easier for some classes than others but support from the damage dealers is required if they have skills that can assist. The pots that can be used on others may also help here if your group is struggling - use the vendors at the entrance of the instance!

At times during the fight, the boss will put an eye effect on a player. This leads to the boss gaining aggro on that player for a short period of time. Kiting is recommended here, unless shielded by the tank.

Boss 2

Tier 3+

This boss will throw puddles around throughout the fight. As tank it is very important to make sure you do not drag the boss through the green puddles as these will give the boss a buff to its damage.

As a tank it is also very important to not stand with your back against the wall. This is because the boss performs a knockback attack quickly followed by a very damaging close range attack. If you aren't in a position to be knocked back you will take significant damage.

Throughout the fight spirits will be summoned. These attack randomly including attacking the boss. The boss will also kill them so they do not need to be focussed

Boss 3

Tier 3+

Big boss fight with giant bird roc.

When bird does "Downdraft", she will punt you continuously outwards, each punt doing a lot of damage, and if you hit the edge of the map with the wind barrier, you get *A LOT* of damage.

If she does "Tornado", she's going to pull you towards her, and if you touch her, massive damage!

Key to both is to camp near rock pillars, and if you put a rock between you and her, you'll barely get damaged, and you won't get pulled or pushed away from her.

Other mechanic is Lightning, when she hits someone with it, you'll get a red debuff after a few seconds, which you should cure or red potion, or else you get stunned.

Early in the fight, a cyclone is summoned which will chase the person with highest aggro. If you are a beorning this can be ignored as it just causes slight damage. For any other tank this cyclone will cause damage and a power drain which can be deadly, so you must constantly kite it around the arena.

Progressively more cyclones will be summoned throughout the fight. These further cyclones move randomly. The cyclones cannot be damaged.

Easiest done with ranged DPS popping in and out of rocks to pew pew the roc. Best if team is on voice so tank can callout which move the roc is about to do so team can act accordingly. Healer usually cannot tell which move roc is about to do unless he/she constantly selects roc - so turning on skill target forwarding is recommended. Voice always helps but is not necessary.
