Sun

The Sun was created from one of two remnants of the Two Trees, the last single burning fruit of Laurelin.

The Valar cast the fruit into the sky on a burning chariot, pulled by the Maia Arien, and it became the Sun.

As the Sun was left outside of Arda, Morgoth was not able to destroy it the way he had with the Two Trees and the Two Lamps before them.

The creation of the Sun started the First Age, and it remained untouched in the sky at least through to the Fourth Age.
