Walkthrough & Notes
You must find seven Subtle Tracks to find the Brooch. Each track gives directions to the next, but two of them are vague. Spoiler Alert They are tracks are at: [10.8N, 25.0W] [10.0N, 25.0W] [9.5N, 24.2W] [9.4N, 24.0W] [9.2N, 24.5W] [9.4N, 25.1W] [10.0N, 26.1W] You can bypass the tracking and go straight to the brooch near an Angmarim priest's tent. Bestowal dialogue 'Welcome to Gath Forthnír, <name>. This is a grim and cheerless place, but we do what we must to stand against the shadows that press us. 'You seek to learn the secret paths to Gath Forthnír? I could speak to you all day, and if you did not possess enough skill as a hunter, it would not matter -- anything I could teach you would flow over you like water and mean nothing. 'You must prove to me that you have the skill, <name>. When last I scouted the eastern lands of Angmar, I let fall a brooch I carried; I did not realize it was missing until I returned here. If you can follow my trail, you might find the brooch where I dropped it. If you are able to do this, return the brooch to me, and I will teach you what I know.' Background You have been encouraged to learn the lay of the waste that is East Angmar, so you may better find your way to Gath Forthnír when needed. Objective 1 Find the brooch Maerchiniath's brooch is somewhere in East Angmar. The Ranger Maerchiniath has agreed to teach you how to find secret paths through East Angmar if you can follow the trail he took when he lost his brooch and bring it back to him. Maerchiniath: 'I left Gath Forthnír and lost my brooch somewhere along the way. If you are a worthy hunter, you should be able to find my trail and follow it. Perhaps you will find my brooch somewhere along the way, and I will show you how to find secret paths through Angmar so you can come quickly to Gath Forthnír if the need is great.' Subtle Tracks: Close study reveals that the faint trail leads south. Subtle Tracks: The tracks turn to the south-east at this point. Maerchiniath certainly passed this way and not long ago. Subtle Tracks: Maerchiniath certainly came this way; that much is clear. What is not clear is in what direction he set forth from this point, for the tracks are muddled and confused. Subtle Tracks: Something came this way, but what it might have been eludes you and the trail is long cold. Your heart tells you that Maerchiniath did not come this way. Subtle Tracks: From here the trail leads north-west; that much is certain. Subtle Tracks: Maerchiniath certainly came this way; that much is clear. What is not clear is in what direction he set forth from this point, for the tracks are muddled and confused. Subtle Tracks: You find a fallen brooch partially-buried in the loose stones and dirt. Collected the Brooch Objective 2 Bring brooch to Maerchiniath Maerchiniath is at the hidden camp of Gath Forthnír, in East Angmar. You have recovered the fallen brooch and should return it now to Maerchiniath. Maerchiniath: 'You have found my brooch, <name>, and by doing so have proven yourself a hunter worthy of reward! 'I will teach you the signs of the secret paths through this unpleasant land, so you may lead your allies to Gath Forthnír with great speed, if the need arises.'
