The Men Angrún is a great road built by the realm of Angmar at the height of its power, prior to its fall following defeat at the Battle of Fornost in 1975 of the Third Age.

The Men Angrún, often called the Dark Road, ran from Angmar to Rhûn, beginning in the west at Rathad Caul, the Narrow Way, at the edge of Câr Bronach. The road cuts through Elderslade and passes through the Rushgate into the Grey Mountains, where it passes the great dwarf-keeps of Thikil-gundu and Skarháld. Despite its association with Angmar, the road is still used by travellers in Ered Mithrin and is marked by tall, dwarf-made road markers within the old boundaries of the Longbeard realm of Grárik.

The Men Angrún passes well north of Erebor and the Iron Hills on its way east. There is a pass to the Dark Road near Hammerstead in the Iron Hills, but it was recently blocked by a landslide. [29.0N, 15.7W]
