Description

Blackroot Vale is an area within King's Gondor.

The Blackroot Vale, Morthond in Sindarin, lays in the shadow of the White Mountains and of the Dwimorberg and the Paths of the Dead. The Morthond river from which the valley takes its name runs through the vale from beneath the mountains down to the Bay of Belfalas.

The Vale is renowned for its archers. Lord Duinhir brought many of them to the defence of Minas Tirith during the War of the Ring, and many did not return, including his sons Derufin and Duilin.
