Hildith's Council
Hildith, the headstrong wife of Grimbold, now leads Grimslade in her husband's absence.
Background
Hildith decides to sit and hear council from you and from Dunward.
Objective 1
Hildith is in the Mead Hall of Grimslade.
- Hildith: 'Good, everyone is here. Let us begin at once.
- 'Pay attention, everyone. Your Thane is speaking!'
Objective 2
Hildith's council is in the Mead Hall of Grimslade.
- Hildith says, "We are behind on news of the Mark since our trade routes fell away."
- Hildith says, "Our guest brings word that the Fords of Isen have fallen."
- Hildith says, "The lords who held them -- Erkenbrand, Elfhelm, and our own Grimbold...."
- Hildith says, "...are missing. None have heard from them."
- Hildith says, "Marton, our neighbouring town, is destroyed, and much of the Westfold is in ruin."
- Hildith says, "Our king braces for war in the Hornburg, and Gandalf Grayhame searches high and low for Grimbold and the others."
- Hildith says, "I shall send my four swiftest riders out in every direction to look for him in the Westfold."
- Dunward says, "Are you sure that is wise, my lady? It is a death sentence to ride out now!"
- Dunward says, "I advise you to look to our defences, or our escape, and waste not a man or horse on anything else."
- Hildith says, "Are you questioning me, Dunward?"
- Dunward says, "No indeed, Lady Hildith! It is just that...if Grimbold were here, he --"
- Hildith says, "But Grimbold is decidedly not here."
- Hildith says, "I do not like that fact any more than you do...which is why we must find him."
- Hildith says, "Riders! Did you not hear my command?"
- Hildith says, "Return to me when you have news of Grimbold."
- Hildith says, "Speak against me again, Dunward, and I will send you from Grimslade."
- Hildith says, "My word is law in Grimbold's absence."
- Dunward says, "My...my apologies, Lady Hildith. I only wished to offer my humble counsel."
- Hildith has offended everyone with her harsh words...
Objective 3
- Ask Hildith why she was so harsh to Dunward
Hildith is in Grimslade's Mead Hall.
- Hildith: 'Do you wish to help us, <name>? You look to be a seasoned warrior. Grimbold took the bulk of our soldiers to fight with him at the Fords, and we need all the strength we can muster if we are to survive this war.'
- You ask Hildith why she asks for help when she turns it away when offered by her counsellor. Her face turns to stone.
- 'Of course, you are not obligated to stay. Help yourself to whatever hospitality Grimslade has to offer, and then I wish you safe travels.'
Objective 4
- Bow to Hildith and take your leave
Hildith is in Grimslade's Mead Hall.
- Hildith gives you a look as hard as stone as you depart
Objective 5
You should head towards the door of the Mead Hall.
- You feel compelled to take one last look at Hildith
Objective 6
- Look back at Hildith from across the Mead Hall
Hildith is in the Grimslade Mead Hall.
- Utterly alone in the Thane's seat, Hildith's angry demeanor has dissolved into one of deep sadness now that she thinks no one is near.
