Tactics

Zanthrug is first seen patrolling the ramparts around an altar. In order to engage him, a character with the Uruk-general's armour (obtained from Master of the Black Tide) and the follow-up quest A Leader Unveiled will need to place it on the altar.

Zanthrug will proceed to mock the fellowship, and send in two waves of mobs before entering battle himself.

Note: There is currently a bug that will cause the encounter to occur multiple times in a row if more than one person places the armour. It is therefore recommended to designate one player to place it; everyone will still get credit for the quest.
