Promoted to Ninja Status! --Lotroadmin 14:11, 19 February 2011 (EST)
A long overdue promotion here! Thanks for all the hard work --Lotroadmin (talk) 14:13, 2 November 2012 (EDT)

Crafting Tools

I think you might be going by an old version of the recipes; I checked on a character created within the past couple months and all the tier 4 tools had both words capitalized, and a more specific effect description: File:Example.png Eggolass 18:54, 2 March 2011 (EST)

Hi, grats on your promotion! :) These tools were named according to what is done usually in this wiki, as advised by Rogue on my talk page User talk:Goingbald#Trait names months ago, so it may differ from in-game sometimes to enforce consistency (we correct the game I'd say!). --Goingbald 00:12, 3 March 2011 (EST)
(I'm totally butting into a discussion that doesn't involve me, sorry!) My first reaction is to say we should follow the in-game names for things even when they buck conventions (Item:Hammer-Mace is another good example), and the oppositional side of me balks at a "standard" that was set years ago. That said, though, I can see the merit in such a standard, especially since the capital-after-hyphen scenario is pretty rare. May I suggest that, as a compromise, we put the offending items on pages following our convention (Dwarf-steel, Hammer-mace), but follow the in-game name on the tooltip itself (i.e., name = Hammer-Mace, but disambigpage = Hammer-mace)? Now that I think about it, that might be even more confusing, ugh. Sethladan 01:07, 3 March 2011 (EST)

Quests

All these Evendim quests look great - keep up the fantastic work! :) Sethladan 16:52, 29 March 2011 (EDT)

Twilight Estates Rewards

I wanted to apologize for deleting some of the feet icons for the quest rewards -- they were in the "unused images", and I assumed (oops) that someone had gone through and switched them over to generic, so I deleted the light and medium ones that I knew had a generic version (since I originally uploaded them, haha). Then I realized the reward template wasn't pulling the icons, and I thought 'oops'. I do still have screenshots of the items and I matched the correct icons with the items. I wouldn't have done that before you had created the items if I had realized; just a good reminder to always check why an image is unused . . . good catch on the heavy boots icon, and thanks for putting the sources of comparison as well :) Rubyctook 11:46, 10 May 2011 (EDT)

Shield Icon

File:Shield 1 (incomparable)-icon.png - do one of the items need updating? It'd probably be better to use Shield 7 or so if that's a common icon, because I know not all the "Shield 1"s look like that. Sethladan 01:03, 25 August 2012 (EDT)

Whoops, I was only trying to update the icon for Aranthan; didn't even notice it was pointing to a shared one. Fixed! Eggolass (talk) 15:37, 25 August 2012 (EDT)
Thanks! I know you're the sort of editor who knows what she's doing, otherwise I would have just mashed that rollback button. Glad to see you still around. :) Sethladan 15:48, 25 August 2012 (EDT)

War-steed tutorial

Since the number one question asked in OOC/LFF/Advice in the beta is STILL "how do I get my war-steed?" I've started trying to write up some "stuff" as a War-steed "tutorial" -- not to be confused with, but to include the in-game Tutorial.

Regarding your edit...

Regarding your edit http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php?title=Item:Bounty:_Esquire&curid=68078&diff=520513&oldid=520361 I read in my loot-log:

Taking the contents of the Corpse of Tomb-guard...
You have acquired a [Bounty: Esquire].
Taking the contents of the Corpse of Hungry Spirit...
You have acquired a [Bounty: Esquire].

Why did you remove what I just had added?

I also found, at the same place (but did not know exactly how to handle that):

Taking the contents of the Fancy Gold Chest...
You have acquired a [Bounty: Veteran Esquire].
Taking the contents of the Gold Chest...
You have acquired a [Bounty: Veteran Esquire].

Best regards -- Zimoon (talk) 02:18, 15 October 2012 (EDT)

There are different bounties for different level ranges, and all the scaled instances (GB, Annúminas, Fornost, Helegrod, School/Lib, IotF, and HoN) can drop them, so there's no need to list individual instances for each type of bounty. -- Eggolass (talk) 04:56, 15 October 2012 (EDT)
OK, fair enough. -- Zimoon (talk) 06:39, 15 October 2012 (EDT)

Nice template

Just wanted to say "cool"

And wondering, are not all instances scaled? then why red links for such a category? but I have not done any such instances so... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zimoon (Contribs • User Talk) at 21:49, 22 October 2012‎ (UTC).

Right, not all instances are scaled - Garth Agarwen, Angmar, Moria, Lothlórien, Mirkwood, In Their Absence, Isengard, etc. are all non-scaled. -- Eggolass (talk) 17:57, 22 October 2012 (EDT)
Sorry for missing signature, was typing at my mobile, not too fun ;) Still you've done a cool job!
Thanks, I get it. I posted some stuff at the template talk. Minor things. But we need to think about the geography categorization a bit, to keep things together somehow. -- Zimoon (talk) 03:01, 23 October 2012 (EDT)
While this is an ancient set of comments stumbled upon while looking for something else ... the answers are now "incorrect" -- all "Instances" are now scaled ... supposedly... for some meaning of the word "Instance," and some meaning of the word "all." GA might be the only ones left, not certain at the moment.
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 19:15, 14 March 2013 (EDT)
Mirkwood and In Their Absence instances have since been scaled, but Garth Agarwen, Angmar, Moria, Lothlórien, and Isengard are not. -- Eggolass (talk) 23:14, 14 March 2013 (EDT)

Deeds

Watch out with deeds. We have historically not mimicked the deed log in detail but kept things closer to the source. Compare with deeds for Sarnúr, Stoneheight, Garth Agarwen, etc. Remember that the categories at this Wiki do not in any way always reflect how things look like in-game. Sometimes, yes, but not always. We have the freedom to split or merge things so that information or organization makes the best sense for casual visitors, and for ourselves.

Preferably a deed that is bound to a narrow locale should be contained in a category for that locale. And that category is contained within the larger category. However, what is displayed at the deed info-box should be accurate. Today it is not. It is missing the grouping details from the deed log and just reads the elementary.

The deed-template is in a bad shape and would need a serious upgrade, but that requires caution for backward compatibility. Or a massive work to update all deeds. Perhaps it would be best to create a replacement template and walk over all deeds and switch to the new one?

Either way, I am not going to delete Category:The Tower of Orthanc Deeds as I believe there are many deeds that pertain to that locale and that the category should be contained within the Rise of Isengard Deeds category. Sorry, but I think you should have studied other deeds and their categories before doing all those edits ;) -- Zimoon (talk) 04:01, 23 October 2012 (EDT)

The Orthanc deeds were all over the place though, half of them were in different categories and a handful were missing. You can break them out into sub-categories if you'd like, I just wanted to get them all formatted consistently. -- Eggolass (talk) 04:47, 23 October 2012 (EDT)
Yes I know. I begun sorting out Deeds quite some time ago, I think Dunland was not really finished here by the time. I have no doubt they were all over the place. And not only those but quite a chunk of others as well. Have a glance at e.g. Garth Agarwen deeds and see one way to do it. And eventually I get to Dunland too :P. -- Zimoon (talk) 04:56, 23 October 2012 (EDT)

Hi again, I patrolled an edit on Beast-slayer of the Eastemnet and noticed the <del> around the warg extra info. Is that note invalid? Or why the "del"? -- Zimoon (talk) 04:54, 31 October 2012 (EDT)

I left a note at the top of the page to verify on Live whether Wargs or Crebain count towards Beast-slayer like they did in Dunland. -- Eggolass (talk) 15:05, 1 November 2012 (EDT)
Ooh, sorry then. I did not read the box as it looked like any other beta-box. I guess that if you want to leave a note you'd
give it better visibility this way ;)
I mean, seeing a few dozen such boxes looking exactly as the other, we tend to think they are 100% like each other, don't we? Either way, the rashness is at my side so I apologize. -- Zimoon (talk) 17:45, 1 November 2012 (EDT)

Instance name question

Could I pick your brain and ask you to investigate Talk:Glacier Fortress?
I guess the post by Ravanel is all-inclusive but to recap: what does the place read at the instance-joiner and under the radar?

Editing templates

Please, next time you edit a template, first carefully read its talk-page. Whichever template it is. In this case you edited a template which is specifically asked for not to edit too often because of the massive background job that is started. Thus we have a long list of minor wishes that we want done at the same time something more important is done, or when the list becomes long enough in itself.

We know you did your edit in good faith and with the best of intentions. This is a reminder until next time, no harm done but just slow down when it comes to templates. Some are harmless and not much used, but others are used all over the place, like this one.
-- Zimoon (talk) 09:03, 26 December 2012 (EST)

Oh sorry, I totally missed the discussion page. Will keep that in mind in the future. -- Eggolass (talk) 11:40, 26 December 2012 (EST)

Regarding http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php?title=Template:Item-drop&curid=99787&diff=549975&oldid=529791, I think you should correct the -43, 44- too then, now we have a difference between the template and the table at Hide, right? Or is there really a difference? If so, how do we best communicate that discrepancy?
-- Zimoon (talk) 07:57, 9 January 2013 (EST)

It does seem likely that the Template:Item-drop value is wrong, but I didn't want to change it without actually checking if other types of drops cut off at the same level that hides do. -- Eggolass (talk) 10:14, 9 January 2013 (EST)
Fair enough -- Zimoon (talk) 12:06, 9 January 2013 (EST)

T8 Tailor crafting

T8 Tailor crafting ...

How did/do we deal with these recipes/item pages? I.e. auto-crit recipes from the guild. (I think we did something before, but I forget what Items were involved.)

I used: Item:Tactical Ring of the Mark as a pattern, but with the servers still down, I can't verify anything but the basic stats from screenshots I took. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Magill (Contribs • User Talk) at 22:44, 15 February 2013‎.

Sure, that ring is a good example - the regular recipe is "of the Mark", and the guild recipe is "of Éomer", so there shouldn't be any naming conflict and we can add both of them to the output item pages. -- Eggolass (talk) 11:51, 21 February 2013 (EST)

Are you aware of this...? Recipe books from the Store

This is something I just ran across on a crafting subject in the forum. I was not aware of this.

http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?502422-Question-on-buying-crafting-patterns post #2...

"Turbine sells a full recipe book for each tier of each crafting profession. Lets say you buy the Cook Tier 4 recipe book. All the characters on your account that have cooking as a profession now know all of the Tier 4 Cooking recipes.
You can not check for a complete recipe book because it is a account level unlock not a character unlock. All your current cooks would have the tier 4 recipes. All future cooks would have tier 4 recipes. Any new tier 4 recipes added by Turbine would be immediately learned.
Note: I do not know how the recipe books work with the instance drop recipes. My guess is that you get these recipes. No need to run the Turtle raid for the bracelet recipe."

Running, needle, thread and scissors in hand, through the Store Aisles to: LOTRO Store Tailor Recipes I don't find any reference to any kind of "Recipe Book" or "package," just to individual recipes. I'm guessing this is a "new item" that we need to add to the store pages?

Of course, one wonders if this includes the infamous "farmed" recipes that have just been taken out of various Eastemnet instances. I haven't gotten that far yet, but those recipes are apparently "gold" recipes? I haven't seen any such thing on Bullroarer, but haven't looked... and right now I'm busily rebuilding a crashed disk drive so I can't look :( Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 11:36, 22 February 2013 (EST)

Ah HA!!! it appears that all of the single recipes are gone from the Store! You can now buy "all" the recipes for a tier, except one shots. Certain One-shots are available at lower levels -- like the "Supreme Master <craft> Journal" for scholar -- nothing at T7 or T8.
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 15:54, 22 February 2013 (EST)
I checked a handful of them - they don't include some of the rarer recipes, like cosmetic tailor recipes or raid-dropped recipes. Someone should probably go through the books on Bullroarer and write down exactly which ones are included so we can link back to the books on the individual recipe pages. -- Eggolass (talk) 00:13, 23 February 2013 (EST)
Store is apparently still broken on Bullroarer -- all I get is "session Timed out" messages. Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 14:37, 24 February 2013 (EST)

Icons

Hey Eggo :) Here we go again with the news...I promise I'm getting them from in-game this time. I am putting unknown on the ones I see in the AH, I know it'd be great to find out where they're coming from.

I was wondering if you were seeing any subtle differences in the item icons, like the purple and teal necklaces. I was thinking about standardizing the icons to Necklace 18 (rare) and Necklace 18 (incomparable) if that's alright with you? Happy item stat hunting! Garabrand (talk) 09:52, 8 March 2013 (EST)

One of the club icons was similar to an existing one with a drop shadow added, but I haven't noticed any difference between the icons for items that are new to U10. If you want to standardize them I'd say go for it. -- Eggolass (talk) 15:40, 8 March 2013 (EST)
I probably should have been specific about what I was referring to. I'm planning on making necklace 18 rare and incomp, respectively, for these: Weathered Steel Chain, Ancient Wight's Choker, Pendant of the Entombed, Marksman's Silver Chain, Elf-forged Golden Necklace and Cardolan-steel Necklace, Pitted Steel Chain, Forsaken Wight's Choker, Pendant of the Embalmer, Archer's Silver Chain, Elf-forged Golden Pendant... Garabrand (talk) 17:38, 8 March 2013 (EST)
Yes, that's what I thought you meant. Seems like the other equipment slots tend to have a lot of repeated icons too. -- Eggolass (talk) 22:19, 8 March 2013 (EST)

10.1

Real quick I made a page that should include all the items that changed with the 10.1 update, providing I didn't miss any in the patch notes. Won't have a chance to look in game to see how the stats actually changed for a little while. Also didn't add what the new items are (there's like four instances with new drops) because again, can't get in game for a bit.

Contents of Template Sandbox?

I was just looking to use the Template:Sandbox for the first time and noticed that it is "apparently" not empty.
It seems to have material in it from you and Gwenwyfar from back in March -- but nothing shows up in Template Sandbox.

Since I've never used this tool before, I don't know if what is there is "necessary boilerplate" or simply detritus left behind which can be deleted.

Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 18:44, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
The only thing that's necessary on the Template:Sandbox page is the top line, inside the noinclude tags. Everything in the includeonly tags was what Gwenwyfar was testing back in December of last year. Since it's been there for so long, I think it's safe to remove. In fact, I'll do that now.
One thing to note is that if you add in parameters on the Template Sandbox page, and then Preview the page, you can look at the output of a template without having to save the Template Sandbox page itself. All you have to do is make edits on Template:Sandbox and then see how it affects your preview on the other. -- Elinnea (talk) 19:57, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Cool...Thanks. Hopefully I captured you comments correctly when I generalized them over at Template talk:Sandbox

U14 Essences

I started trying to "organize" Essences.

  • See: Essence for what I've started. I basically modeled it after the Legendary Items structure.

I started out without tagging them and then shifted to tagging them "parenthetically" - Uncommon/Rare/Incomparable.

Does this all make sense?

 Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 20:56, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Sure, that looks fine. Since there are so many different level bands, we should probably have a table of the stat values on each page, or maybe even a template to generate them if the formula can be derived. -- Eggolass (talk) 06:15, 15 June 2014 (UTC)

Skirmish Campaign Loot

Back in 2013 you were hard at work in the Skirmish Campaigns and had added or tracked numerous Skirmish Raid rewards and lootUser:Eggolass/Skirmish Raid Loot. But after a while you ended up deleting the incomparable loot from the various Skirmish Campaigns pages (e.g. Eruilan Campaign). The Campaigns are gone in the game itself but the loot remains here on the wiki. Did you have a way-ahead or plans for the raid loot to add it somewhere else? I started to create loot tables in my re-vamped Skirmish Rewards page. But wanted to see if you had any insight before continuing. you can reply back here, and I will watch the page. Thanks Matthew.zellmer (talk) 13:42, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
