Skill Rotations

Following is my typical opener for Cleansing Flame (Red) specialization for single target DPS:

Skill Induction / Channel[1] Resulting Attunement
 Essay of Fire 2.5s 3
 Fiery Ridicule (tier 1) 0[2] 4
 Writ of Fire (tier 1) 0.8s 6
 Distracting Flame 1s 9
 Smouldering Wrath 5s 4
 Writ of Fire (tier 2) 0[3] 5
 Essay of Fire 2.5s 8
 Fiery Ridicule (tier 2) 0[2] 9
 Writ of Fire (tier 3) 0.8s 9
 Essence of Flame 2s 9
 Essence of Storm 0 9
 Smouldering Wrath 5s 4
  1. If you have points in Empowering Flame then periodically inductions will be shortened and this can effect timing for cooldowns.
  2. a b Induction suppressed by Essay of Fire
  3. Induction suppressed by Master of Connotation - 5

After completing the opener, I establish a priority window system where I execute a varying set of skills within 10s Smouldering Wrath cooldown windows. The priorities are roughly as follows:

  1.  Smouldering Wrath
  2.  Essay of Fire
  3.  Essence of Storm (preferably use at 9 for a 57% crit chance with max Crit Rating)
  4.  Essence of Flame
  5.  Distracting Flame (refresh every other window)
  6.  Writ of Fire (refresh only when Master of Connotation - 5 is up)
  7.  Fiery Ridicule (refresh)

If AOE is required, then the following priorities can be substituted:

  1.  Smouldering Wrath
  2.  Essay of Fire
  3.  Combustion (ensure that  Writ of Fire is at tier 3 before using)
  4.  Essence of Flame
  5.  Essence of Winter
  6.  Fiery Ridicule (when in doubt spam this)

If you want to use  Scathing Mockery, only use it when there's at least 10 targets available and use an Anórien Dagor Infused Parchment before casting, otherwise it's not worth it.

Trait Specialization Builds

Rune-keeper Best Practices

  • To start combat with a bubble on yourself or someone else, quickly cast  Prelude to Hope followed by  Word of Exaltation before combat begins. Remember to equip healing LIs to maximize the bubble's effectiveness. This is especially usefully when there is a large initial hit upon starting an encounter, as with Rakothas T2 in Throne of the Dread Terror.
  • A single Rune-keeper can keep  Do Not Fall This Day continuously on two group members using the Rune-satchel legacy Do Not Fall This Day Cooldown, which reduces the cooldown from 5 to 2.5 minutes. Careful monitoring of the cooldown is required. Potentially the legacy could be kept on a swap Rune-satchel to free up a legacy spot for other purposes.
  • The skill  Scribe a New Ending is very useful for removing wounds/fears/poisons/disease. However, keep in mind that it is a targeted skill. If you target someone outside of your group (i.e. a raid member in a different group), this skill will not remove your effects. Therefore if you want to be sure that your effects are removed, you should target yourself before using. Also, it can't be used while moving, so you should also carry around wound/fear/poison/disease potions as well to use on the run.
