Shire is where the home is at
More particularly, Areyekuwe Goodenough (Nicknamed: Mayor of the Golden Perch) who is a descendant of the Old Stoor families of:
- Goodenough of Green Hill Country them were starting out in the Shire as original Pipe-Weed cultivators, long before smoking became well adopted. Most well known and remembered member of that family became Ivy Goodenough who was wife of original patriarch of Boffin family, Buffo Boffin.
- Puddifoot of Stock who turned many a head up to this day as they like many things very much like Tall Folks do, including living in houses!?
- Boffin of Yale a family with many connections to the Bagginses and Tooks, who are some of the greatest of families of Fallohide ancestry, certain as such because it can be easily traced in case of say Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins to the Great Took (Bandobras Took, more commonly known as Bullroarer), himself who was an ample example.
Areyekuwe himself born on the edge of the Shire in Eastfarthing by the Brandywine Bridge in Stock. He is very well acquainted with relations residing in Hobbiton and Michael Delving area, Notably Bingo Boffin having gone to the top of the Cooks Guild rankings and having spent some time working on the farms of South Fields
Personally (switching to the 1st person quick, fast) Fishing around the river and Marsh, mushroom picking if all is well are just the best things to do ever, surely.
Stoors who were late arrivals in the Shire settling throughout the Eastfarthing,
more particularly along the banks of the Brandywine River,
In Buckland and all the way to the Bree, in places like Bree's Little_Staddlemere North Gate's Windview_Estate.
Alas, that very outgoing character of the Great Stoors could have enabled such present day situation.
All this resulted in often non traditional, self reliant character, boat building, swimming in rivers and proactive defense, or wearing of boots when need be.
Brief Abstract of the Hobbit History and Lore
Who are Hobbits? Hobbits are known as:
- Halflings- by the race of men owning to the fact that they are about half the size of an average man.
- Holbytla- is a word of Hobbit / Rohirrim origin that was likely first used by Fallohides and Stoors towards the Harfoots and describes them as Hole Builders / Hole Dwellers.
Hobbit Ancestry is generally thought of as three types.
- Harfoots, are the most common type of Hobbit in ancient times, with their origin in south part of Anduin River Valley they occupied slopes of the mountains and were naturally in friendly relation with Dwarves. Harfoots were the first to start movement through the Middle Earth and while as Hobbits they did not keep detailed history they start to receive mention in history of men, Kingdom or Arnor sometime Third Age, 1050, onward. Evidently reaching all the way to the Weathertop.
- Fallohides, were least common type of Hobbit Race that generally were settled in ancient times in the north of the Anduin River Valley and enjoyed best relationship with the Elves preferring tree and forests to all other types of terrain. At some point some 100 years later, about Third Age, 1150 they joined the Harfoots in their movement through the Middle Earth, they took route far north of Rivendell and were accepted as natural leaders through bold nature of their character. It was they who with permission of the Arnor's King in Fornost crossed the Brandywine River and settled what became known as The Shire.
- Stoors, are the the type of Hobbits that in ancient times lived in South of the Anduin River Valley and in the Gladden Fields they were last to leave the area and start their movement through the middle earth, about year 1300 of Third Age. Taking Redhorn pass a number of Stoors went towards Dunland, however joined the rest of the Hobbits in settling the Shire about year 1650 of the Third Age. Bringing their own unique dialect, rich with Dunlending influence. Most commonly fishermen, most friendly to men and most a like men in appearance, at times wearing boots and even commonly sporting facial hair, a unique trait among Hobbits. They could easily swim and naturally construct and use boats.
- After settling in the Shire Distinctions between various kinds of Hobbits became blended together, retaining slight regional settlement oddities.
- Special note on Stoors, even of Today:
Hobbits of Stoor ancestry are the only group of Hobbits that are still possible to trace to thier roots of origins as Stoors. While most or all other hobbits that moved into the Shire have merged and intermarried and ancestry of the 3 main branches became a historical fact, there are some thriving Stoor settlements well outside of the Shire that had only some contact with the Shire. Buckland on the other side of the Brandywine river is a traditionaly Stoor area, nearest to the Shire. Nearly all of Hobbits living around Bree Town are of Stoor ancestry. However main area is situated in Dunland / Enedwaith, area through which migration of Hobbits to the Shire took place and where some have stayed back.
While actual fact of origin of Hobbit race is unknown even to Hobbits themselves it can be traced to the area between what became known as Mirkwood (through spread of the shadow) and misty mountains. Possibly Vale of Anduin as likely origin point. At some point living in close proximity to the ancestors of Rohirrim, the Éothéod two languages came to share a bit of vocabulary.
Hobbits enter mythology of Rohirrim as mythical creatures that can in addition to speech communicate with sounds that resemble songs of birds. In general are a mortal race related to the Race of Men and not related to either Dwarves or Elves. There is a possibility that they were created by the Yavanna, Valar that sung into existence all of the forests and vegetation, those name can be taken to mean Giver of Fruits and Queen of the Earth. She participates in creation of Sun and Moon thus in a way maintaining the light.

Mischief Maker, Who? - Burglar, You!
Burglar Class Fun
Most articles start with "This famous such and such", in this instance we can no longer pretend that it is acceptable term of play. This is to hint that you are seeking information on the founder of the Shire's kin: Den of Thieves, the infamous Mischief-Maker himself: Areyekuwe.
Goes without saying, here is the title:
An alright hobbit from far away in a field or when faced with a challenge, coz keeping cool is a professional trait of all such Burglars, but furiously running and at times down right crushing foes with The Great Took's own club.
Burglar Class Resources
And When you do get out of the Shire, things to keep in mind:
- Burglar Legacies
List of all legacies for the Burglars. Both: Tool-bag and Weapon.
Burglar Legendary Legacies. Before and after Imbue.
- Trait Points:
This guide is not only for Aria of Valar users, it is for anyone who wishes to go straight to the traits they want.
Good over view of all trait points
- Past Projects(The Den is still there, but we have branched out):
Some time during January of 2018 it became evident that Brandywine server of LOTRO and The Shire in particular need something for Hobbits, something for Burglars. Den of Thieves, originally all Hobbit farmers (as in possibly, naturally, very likely Yeoman), all Burglar Kin association was formed.
Two months later announcement was made that as long as above mentioned Hobbits are of steady enough character to do the craft that they like, it does not matter what craft they do.
In April of 2019, building on attention of the devs and updates to the Burglar class, doors were open to all Hobbits of the Shire and beyond.
Den of Thieves is in fact the official home of the Second Breakfast, as we know what is important and let you get right to it. And when you need each other, the Den is still all there. Cheers and see you in Turtledown, our home burrow.

Hytboldt Furniture:
To rebuild this city, The Hytboldt it takes a lot of effort. And yes, us Hobbit folk would rather try and try again to install proper round windows all over there, in there, somewhere, in the vast Rohan. However the resulting furniture, once local folks are up and running their lumber mills, well it is good and of warm color. Take a look.
