Why is this boilerplate in Category Obsolete?

It is apparently, the boilerplate which matches the current Recipe format -- missing only the <onlyinclude> as far as I can tell. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Magill (Contribs • User Talk).

Zimoon marked it obsolete, and the only comments I can see about it are at User talk:Adelas#Crafting: Who's on First?. I gather it's because this boilerplate is duplicated by Boilerplate:Recipe and it's better to only have to keep updating one. I'm not sure what that really means, though - is this one really not supposed to be used? If so, it should have some more obvious statement to that effect. -- Elinnea (talk) 00:39, 3 April 2012 (EDT)
Elinnea hit the nail on the head. Nothing using this boilerplate, except for some stray user links. If I am mistaken I am the first to apologize. I am adding an obsolete template right away, to make it obvious. Tips: always use the "Help" link in the left column and the links from that page. I often come across links in user-space which links to very much obsolete pages; even if those not always officially have been removed into "obsolete" category they (sloppily) have been left behind in favour of some changes made on the official boilerplate and/or template. -- Zimoon (talk) 03:13, 3 April 2012 (EDT)
Oh good, I think it's much clearer now. Thanks. -- Elinnea (talk) 17:55, 3 April 2012 (EDT)
