Special Events

Come one come all, ye adventurers, to share a time of fun and relaxation with dancing and drinking among other fine activities during these special events all around Middle-earth. These are times for celebration, not of war.

Seasonal Activities

There are four main festivals throughout the year, one for every season. During the festivals, adventurers can enjoy many different activities; some are repeated every season, and some are specific of one type of festival.

Welcome Back Events

From time to time, Turbine introduces special "Welcome Back" weeks, weekends, or events, with temporary quest NPCs, free travel, or experience bonuses.

• During the week of 17 - 21 Feburary 2011, players earned +10% experience on monster kills. No other special perks were included this time. See here for the official details.

Many of these events are historical, others repeat on a random basis

• LOTRO Anniversary Celebration - Happens around late April to celebrate the release of LOTRO
• Farmers Faire - Happens around mid-to-late summer
• Bilbo & Frodo's Birthday - Happens on September 22, birthday of both Bilbo Baggins and Frodo Baggins
• Baggins' Birthday - the 2013 Birthday Celebration of Frodo and Bilbo
• The Tale of the Shipwrecked Mariners - Happens around International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19
• Durin's Day - Happens on October 18th at the Lonely Mountain, Its to celebrate the dwarven new year when both the sun and moon can be seen in the sky.
• Treasure Hunt - When active, players can dig for buried treasure at the Treasure Field Base Camp in Ered Luin.
• A Game of Hobnanigans - Rebooted in 2014, aimed to be activated monthly for a few days
• Bounder's Bounty -- 2013 server-wide event preceding the Launch of the Helm's Deep expansion
• The Lost Ring-lore of Eregion‎ -- 2008 server-wide event preceding the Launch of Mines of Moria expansion
