Description

A mighty Maia of Aulë, known in Valinor as Curumo. He was sent with four others (Olórin, Aiwendil, Alatar, and Pallando) to Middle-earth in order to guide the Free Peoples against the resurgence of the Shadow. Due to his extensive knowledge and wisdom he was made the leader of the White Council and known as Saruman the White. His studies of forbidden lore and dark devices, especially the Rings of Power, have only fuelled his ambition. Through his ever-growing pride, envy for Gandalf and his bewilderment towards Sauron, he has become servant of the Dark Lord's will, more so than he intended. In his arrogance he proclaimed himself Saruman of Many Colours and shedded the ties he once held to the White Council, plotting his part in bringing his master's dominion, as well as potential ways to eventually cheat him.

In The Lord of the Rings Online, Saruman is found at Isengard in the tower Orthanc. Having outright betrayed the Valar and broken his vassal covenant to Sauron, he seeks the One Ring for himself, and needs it desperately to survive his precarious position, having lost the trust of the Free Peoples and the favour of Mordor.
