Bestowal dialogue

The inscription on this stone marker is barely legible, but these words can just be made out:

On the western shore of mighty Lake Nenuial,
Stone paths run to the water from a flat clearing.

This new riddle may reveal the true location of the treasure.

Background

The Ranger Culang has learned of a great treasure buried long ago by a Dúnadan-landholder and wants it recovered before it is found by tomb-robbers.

Objective 1

  • Find the solution to the riddle

The treasure may lie beneath another stone marker, somewhere in Evendim, if this riddle is to be believed:

On the western shore of mighty Lake Nenuial,
Stone paths run to the water from a flat clearing.

You should examine the marker when you find it for some clue to the location of the treasure.

Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'They look pretty tough. I don't think we can take them.'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'If only there was more of us!'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'This is pointless. Let's just go home.'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'Can we get someone to help out?'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'There's got to be treasure under that rock!'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'There's just too many of them!'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'It's not fair! We found it first!'
Treasure-hunter Captain: 'You are a friend to the Rangers? Happy tidings! Here we were thinking we lacked the numbers to send those tomb-robbers packing, but with your help we should be able to manage it!
'Let's get them boys! Teach 'em to leave the relics of the past good and buried!'
Treasure-hunter Captain: 'Come on boys! We got help now! We'll wipe 'em all out!'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'Ya! Let's get them!'
Sullen Treasure-hunter: 'Ha ha! We'll show them what for!'
Treasure-hunter Captain: 'They won't come bothering around here anymore. Good work boys.'
Stone Marker: The stone marker is surrounded by signs of digging; if it once marked the location of the treasure, it has surely been found.
The marker bears an inscription, all but worn away by the passage of time.
