Walkthrough & Notes
|
- Alf Earthenway is a prisoner of the goblins at Grothum. [12.7S, 12.7W]
- Marigold Winterdown is at Hoarhallow, in Hithlad. [19.8S, 19.4W]
- Depending upon the direction he chooses to leave the camp -- left or right paths from where you find him -- you will face different difficulties in your escort. In either situation you will face bands of 4 goblins that will attack him. He is an 'elite' level so is fairly hearty and able to take a good beating.
- Alf picks the direction and there is nothing you can do to help him decide one over the other so be prepared for either of the paths.
- Left:
- You will run through 3 camps of the goblins. If you are cautions you can avoid aggro from the signature orc in the first camp. If not, you will have to defeat him as well as the others in the camp.
- At the next major camp -- again with the caution, if you are careful about "runners", you can avoid a fight with the nastiest goblin up there -- the Snowreap Overseer is a full elite but shouldn't be pulled unless a runner gets near him. If done with care, you only face up to 4 goblins at once and never face the elite troll.
- This path is the shortest to the exit. You'll go through only 1 encampment of the goblins to the exit. The exit you'll be heading to is the one closest to Isendeep Mine but once you clear the gate, there will be a 48-50th level elite troll to face. Again, Alf can take a good beating without being defeated so this is still quite soloable.

Bestowal dialogue
'Please, no more beatings.
'Y-you're no goblin. Merry me! I have never been so pleased to see someone in all my days.
'As you see, I am in a spot of trouble and need a fair bit of rescuing, if you wouldn't mind. Can you help me get clear of these accursed goblins?'
Background
Alf Earthenway was out for a leisurely stroll when goblins found him and dragged him to the north. He has spent the time since his capture cooking for the goblins as they think he makes the tastiest food. It was the only thing that he could do to prevent the goblins from eating him.
Objective 1
Alf Earthenway is at Grothum.
Alf Earthenway asked you to help him escape from the goblins.
Objective 2
Marigold Winterdown is at the hobbit-village of Hoarhallow, found on the western edge of the Grimwood Forest in Hithlad. The village is found on the shores of the Hoarwell River.
Alf is free, but before he left you, he asked that you inform Marigold Winterdown that he would be returning to work at the bakery in Hoarhallow shortly.
- Marigold Winterdown: 'Alf was captured by the goblins! We had all thought him lost for good!
- 'You saved him, <name>! We should have a party in your honour. Mayhaps we will, once we get to see the sun shining in these parts again.
- 'One day it will happen, I know this in earnest. For the moment, I feel it fitting to part with a couple of these tokens the Big Folk at Glân Vraig gave us. Thank you for saving my baker!'
