Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'Esgaroth-of-old, the charred ruins of Lake-town that was, has been invaded by smugglers. They have been known to mix their ill-gotten goods in with honest shipments as they pass by. As if that were not enough, one of my Raft-elves has been kidnapped! Please, you must intervene before something terrible befalls him!' Background One last thing must be done to make the trading routes safe. Esgaroth-of-old, the ruins of the previous Lake-town, must be cleared of brigands. Objective 1 Travel to Esgaroth-of-old Esgaroth-of-old can be found east of Loeglond, on the Long Lake. You should travel to Esgaroth-of-old. A man standing nearby whistles at you and beckons you over Objective 2 Talk to Mervárth Mervárth is standing guard outside Esgaroth-of-old. You should talk to Mervárth. Mervárth: 'Who are you, then? State your business here!' You tell him you aim to clear out the smugglers and rescue the Raft-elf. He looks you over, and then his demeanour suddenly changes. 'Listen: I am not your enemy. I am Mervárth, Market-ward from the Lake-town Council of Wares. I've disguised myself to see what these smugglers are up to in Esgaroth. Nothing good, of course.'
