Walkthrough & Notes

This is a timed quest. You have 10 minutes to navigate the maze and drink any six Dire Beers found lying around on benches, garden walls, or the ground. After drinking each beer, the character will experience the Maze Time affect. Then the ground rumbles and the character is transported to a random location within the maze. Most transport locations have a beer nearby. Beers respawn at a fair to moderate pace. If you enter a dead-end and have to back-track, look twice at all areas - a beer may have respawned. After drinking six beers, the timer stops, so the quest may be turned in later (after completing other quests). This quest does not require leaving the maze through the official exit. So if the start portal is closer, leave that way instead. Both the level of this quest, and it's XP reward, scales to the character's level.

Bestowal dialogue 'I have an especially difficult challenge for you. There is a strong, dire beer in the Hedge Maze, and one swallow ill find you bereft of your senses. You will wake far from where you began, and have no memory of how you got there. All exploits along the way will have been forgotten. 'If you can navigate the maze while drinking those dire beers as you go, I will be tremendously impressed.' Background Sinister mugs of beer have been left in the Hedge maze to muddle the senses of patrons. NOTE:This quest will be removed from your quest log when the current festival ends. Objective 1 Sample dire beers before the time runs out (0/6) Dire beer can be found throughout the Hedge Maze, waiting to be drunk. You should sample dire beers...but beware! They will disorient you on your venture. Birdie Thornthicket: 'Beware the dire beers! You never know where you'll end up.' Objective 2 Speak with Birdie Thornthicket Birdie Thornthicket can be found outside the Hedge Maze. You should speak with Birdie Thornthicket and tell her of your success in sampling the dire beers of the maze. Birdie Thornthicket: 'Well done, <name>! I didn't think you had it in you to manage that task! Most folks give up after the first few drinks, dizzy and confused. I admire your persistence!'
