Walkthrough & Notes

This quest is bestowed upon reaching level 95. If you have not yet reached level 95, but approach Isengard (After) while on Quest:Chapter 3: The Flooded Ring, the quest auto-bestows and auto-completes when you talk to the Dunlending. You must go to the road just South of the flooded version of Isengard, which is a completely different spot on the map from regular Isengard near Galtrev. The flooded version is shown on the Stonedeans map, but to reach it you must go North from the Fords of Isen that are shown on the Westfold map. Follow the road on the western side of the Fords of Isen on the Westfold map to reach flooded Isengard. You can also be in the Gap of Rohan map to the east of Grimbold's Camp [88.0S, 2.1W], a Rohirrim Soldier there tells 'Approach the gate to reach the lands to the east.' or 'Approach the gate and I will open it for you.' then the Westfold map loads and you are at The Fords of Isen. Turn back west to now go back to the burnt Grimbold's Camp then head north. Near the burnt camp, another Rohirrim Soldier tells 'Climb over the fallen tree to reach the lands to the west.', tree being behind him, that would allow to load the Gap of Rohan map again, if needed.

Quest Text

Bestowal Dialogue In the wake of the Battle of the Hornburg, you have received word of vast, startling destruction at Isengard. It is unknown what remains of Saruman's forces in Nan Curunír, but the only reported sightings tell of fewer than three dozen Dunlendings fleeing back into their lands. You have been summoned to scout the Wizard's Vale, seek any survivors, and discover what force has brought Isengard to ruin. Background In the aftermath of the Battle of the Hornburg, Saruman and the people of Rohan alike deal with drastically changed circumstances. Objective 1 Search for some sign of survivors outside Isengard Survivors might be found along the road out of Nan Curunír to the north-west of the Westfold. You have received word of vast destruction at Isengard, and seek to investigate the aftermath in search of any survivors. Fleeing Dunlending Captain: 'What's this now? 'Men, raise your weapons... we're not through yet!' The Dunlending chief's command is met only with groans of pain and fear by his men.
