Location
Orodost is a landmark within Vale of Thrain in Ered Luin. [20.2S, 102.3W]
In the south-west of Vale of Thrain the road to Sarnúr run through a narrow pass and there the dwarves once built a strong fortress. Orodost is Sindarin for "Mountain Fortress". However, centuries ago it fell into despair and lay desolate. Recently goblins from the south have claimed it their base and are gaining control of the valley nearby.
