Quick Heads Up

Could all Editors at least every second day or so click THIS (Recent Changes ⇒ Hide patrolled edits) and look at those "unpatrolled" pages that is there. There is no need to do them all!!! But if there is a few that are older than a day or so and if you know about that topic, please do an accuracy check and click "Mark Patrolled" or revert.

Why? We are a few admins who usually check this several times a day to push back errors, mis-formats, and vandalism. However, some edits we simply do not know if they are correct or not (at least that is the case for me) and then we do not want to "mark patrolled" just because we can, as we then may accept an error. Thence, a few unpatrolled pages may linger until somebody who really knows will accept them.

For info: from Editor level you are empowered with the ability to "mark patrolled" and also ... your personal edits are marked patrolled automagically, a recognition of your status as Editor. That is why you had to wait quite long for that promotion, if you had to ;)

Question where to put content

I hope this is an OK place to post this question, could not find a better place. I have some walkthrough directions on getting from outpost to outpost in Moria that I wanted to post, similar to what I put on goblin-town last night. Question is, where should I put it? I was going to put it on the Moria home page, underneath the map, but I think it may not get noticed much there. Are there any better suggestions? Thanks, Brian aka Brankoz (talk) 17:14, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

I'd probably say make it it's own page and then link to it from the main Moria page somewhere in the intro section up the top of the page maybe...
For the meantime I'd suggest putting your work here, a sub-user page which can be easily moved later to the appropriate place.

Thanks very much. Can you please help me on how to create a new page? I could only find how to create certain types of pages (e.g. items, quests, etc.), and this does not seem to fit into any of those.

There are many ways to create a general page. The most useful trick I use is to make use of the Wiki's "page flagging" mechanic:
  • take a page, such as the one the Ketrez indicated - Brankoz/Moria Directions
  • add a link to the name of your new page.
  • when you either preview or save that page -- that link will show up in RED, indicating that the page (link) does not exist.
  • Click on the page link and when you go to that page you will find that it says the page does not exist and give you the option to crate it.
You have followed a link to a page that does not exist yet. To create the page, start typing in the box below (see the help page for more info). If you are here by mistake, click your browser's back button.
The main advantage to using this technique is that you are automatically creating an "index" to the page(s) you are creating! making them easier to find.
The "Contributions" entry quickly loosses new page creations if you are actively editing things as it shows "all edits" unless you click the box at the top:
Only show edits that are page creations
You can use the search function in the same manner.
  • enter the name of the page you want to create in the search box at the top right of every page - example Test Page
  • Immediately below the "banner" at the top of the page, you will find a statement like:
Create the page "Test Page" on this wiki! See also the search results found.
  • Clik on the link for Test Page (also in RED -- Test Page and continue as above.
Once you have created the new page, make certain to add the appropriate Category statements at the bottom. Typically with lines like:
<noinclude>
[[Category: Xyzzy]]
</noinclude>

Thank you for the clever tip. I did create the page last night, and added the Traveling category at the bottom as you requested. I also added links on various other Moria pages.Brankoz (talk) 13:30, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
