Laugdursh, the Dire Span

Laugdursh is a landmark within Thuringwath, in the Morgul Vale. [72.4S, 7.7E]

Long before Ufurok became a monument to the Gaunt-lords, it was a fortress erected in defence of Bâr Nírnaeth. It was Laugdursh, the Dire Span over which the Nazgûl and their most unfortunate victims travelled to the Houses of Lamentation. It fell into disuse once the Nazgûl adopted fell-beasts as their winged mounts in the Third Age of the world.

Laugdursh connects the fortress of Ufurok with the entrance to the Houses of Lamentation. More or less obsolete since the Ringwraiths took to the air, it is now cluttered by the trees that grow well below the bridge, though it is still passable.
