In the middle of Taur Orthon lies this lake, richly fed by water streams from the surrounding mountain sides. Korkea-järvi aptly means "high lake" in Finnish since this is indeed high above the sea far to the north. The lake is partly covered by ice where some villagers from the adjacent Kauppa-kohta practice ice skating.
