Crafted Essences

• Level 100 Essence recipes are obtained from the Dol Amroth reputation barter, Quartermaster (Dol Amroth), at the SW corner of the Court of the Fount.

All are single use recipes.

All create Greater (Incomparable, Item Level 192) or (Critical) Supreme (Epic, Item Level 192 or 195) items.

• Greater Essence recipes are obtained from the Minas Tirith quartermasters between the main gate and stable for either Long-lost coins or Morgul Crests (five or 15, and two or six respectively, for greater/superior). The single use greater recipe requires a major essence to produce a greater. The superior recipe requires a greater, and the main stat recipes are multi-output for additional mastery or morale. All also require a Universal Solvent, Zircon Shard and appropriate crafting materials. There are no critical results.
• There are two essences available to craft for each profession, for level 100 tier seven these are:

Tier 8 Essences

• The recipes to produce a Supreme Essence (Item Level 324) are obtained from:

• the Quartermaster (Pelennor Battle Rewards Vendor) for 6 Morgul Crests; or from
• the Quartermaster (Featured Instance Rewards Vendor) for 15 Long-lost Coins.

All are single use recipes which requires a Greater essence to produce a Supreme.

All require a Universal Solvent, a Zircon Shard and appropriate crafting materials. There are no critical results.

North Ithilien Armour

• The Herb-master (Host of the West - Camp of the Host) or Herb-master (Host of the West - Henneth Annûn) - offers upgrades to Dread Terror Armour pieces.

• The Herbalist (Host of the West - Camp of the Host) or Herbalist (Host of the West - Henneth Annûn) ^{[40.9S, 10.4W]} - exchanges phials for various things, including other phials and armour.

Class-Specific Essences

Class-specific essences are lvl 100 essences that can only be obtained via barterers NPC's.

Essence notes

Update 19.2

The essence system is evolving / changing, fairly rapidly. Major changes will be coming with 19.2 (from the beta preview notes on Bullroarer).

• Pellenor Essences of Morale now drop where Superlative Essences of Morale once did in Throne of the Dread Terror. These essences are item level 270.
• Throne of the Dread Terror - Challenge Chests now have a chance to drop tokens for Legendary Bracelets. They are item level 258 and contain 3 sockets.
• A new tier of Ithilien Infused Essences have been introduced. These essences are item level 258, and cover the following stats:

• Physical Mastery
• Tactical Mastery
• Physical Mitigation
• Tactical Mitigation
• Morale
• Critical Rating
• Might
• Agility
• Vitality
• Will
• Fate

• Each crafting profession will get a new, rare ingredient that can be found in The Throne of the Dread Terror, North Ithilien Flora, Featured Instances, and the Yule Festival. These crafting items are tradeable. Crafters will use these ingredients to make a Wild Essence barter item, which is also tradeable.
• The recipes use the new ingredient, a universal solvent, normal crafting components, and any Ithilien Essence. The recipes are free, and are automatically added to your crafting panel in Update 19.2.
• The North Ithilien Herbalists will give you an Ithilien-infused Essence box in exchange for one of these Wild Essences. The box allows you to choose the essence with the stat you desire, and there is even a small chance the essence may be a Legendary masquerading as an Incomparable.
• North Ithilien - Legendary Rings are now available for barter from the herbalists. They are item level 258 and contain 3 sockets.
• Seventeen new quests and deeds have been added in North Ithilien, including 9 repeatable quests.

Update 21.3

• North Ithilien Essences are now Bound to Account.

Mordor Expansion - Update 21

This Expansion introduced a new twist to the Essence System called Motes of Enchantment.

Update 23.1.7

There is a new panel called Socket Control that can be used to socket or unsocket individual essences. You can now overwrite a socketed essence, destroying the currently socketed essence and replacing it with another of your choice. Optionally, you can choose to unsocket an individual essence for Mithril. To access the panel, either shift-double-click a socketable item, or drag a socketable item to the new essence slot on the character panel.

Tier 9 and 10 - Mordor and Northern Kingdoms Essences

Note: as of Update 21.2.3, neither Cooks nor Scholars can craft essence boxes because of missing recipes.

With the introduction of the Mordor Expansion, the "end-game" Essence system has been significantly reorganized.

Tier 9 Essences are still random drops, however Tier 10 Essences can all be crafted by Doomfold crafters in all non-gathering professions.

One Essence of your choice (see list below) can be selected from each crafted Essence Box.

Mordor essences come in seven variants:

• A  Shadowed Essence Box can be crafted by Doomfold crafters in all non-gathering professions.

The recipe can be bartered from the Quartermaster (Conquest of Gorgoroth Crafting) for 15 Silver Signets of the Thandrim.

The recipes are single use and not bound, the essence boxes are also not bound, so you can get a recipe and have someone else make it for you.

• An  Empowered Shadow Essence Box can be crafted by Doomfold crafters in all non-gathering professions.

The recipe can be bartered from the Quartermaster (Gorgoroth Crafting Vendor) for 25 Silver Signets of the Thandrim.

• Any Tier 10 essence can be exchanged for a  Malleable Shadow Essence with a Quartermaster (Gorgoroth Crafting Vendor) in Gorgoroth.

• An  Abyssal Essence Box can be crafted by Doomfold crafters in all non-gathering professions.

The recipe can be bartered from the Quartermaster (Gorgoroth Crafting Vendor) for 25 Silver Signets of the Thandrim.

These recipes require one  Malleable Shadow Essence.

• An  Empowered Abyssal Essence Box can be crafted by Doomfold crafters in all non-gathering professions.

The recipe can be bartered from the Quartermaster (Gorgoroth Crafting Vendor) for 25 Silver Signets of the Thandrim.

These recipes are single use and require 2 Malleable Shadow Essences in addition to other ingredients.

• A  Northern Kingdoms Essence Box can be crafted by Doomfold crafters in all non-gathering professions.

The recipe can be bartered from the Quartermaster (Elves of Felegoth Crafting), Quartermaster (Men of Dale Crafting), or Quartermaster (Dwarves of Erebor Crafting) for 40 Tokens of the Lake and Rivers.

These recipes require 3 Malleable Shadow Essences and one  Lasgalen Purification Token in addition to other ingredients.

Most Dark essences are about 2/3 of the Shadowed essence; Physical and Tactical Mastery are about 4/5. Empowered Dark essences are about 95% of Shadowed. Empowered Shadow essences are about 5% more than Shadow. Abyssal adds another 8.5% and Empowered Abyssal adds another 9%.

There does not appear to be a Dark or Empowered Dark essence of Morale, although the Shadowed Essence of Morale is in the box.

The essence called Healing is for outgoing healing. The incoming healing essence is called Restoration.

• The  Empowered Gleaming Essence of Light (level 322) gives +14 Light of Earendil and can drop from mobs or be in a Rare Mordor Chest.
• The  Empowered Glowing Essence of Light (level 330) gives +16 Light of Earendi - listed with Empowered Shadowed Essences for barter
• The  Shining Essence of Light (level 337) gives +18 Light of Earendi - listed with Empowered Shadowed Essences for barter
• The  Empowered Shining Essence of Light (level 345) gives +20 Light of Earendi - listed with Empowered Abyssal Essences for barter
• The Glowing Essence of Light gives +10 LoE and can drop from mobs.
