Deed Lore

Dragons were bred long ages ago to break the power of the Elves in the North -- and in this they succeeded with their vast power and cunning, acting as a deadly spearhead of the Enemy's armies that none could stand against. Like Elves, Dragons have never been numerous, and their savage demeanor means that few of their offspring ever reach adulthood. Their numbers have also dwindled in Middle-earth -- but recently many of the lesser drakes have been unleashed from Angmar, which is worrisome indeed, for if these lesser beasts have reappeared, can the Dragons be far behind? Regardless of the danger, these creatures must be destroyed!

To complete this deed perform the following objective(s)

Defeat Drakes (100)
You had never imagined that there could be so many drakes -- once a rare sight outside of the Northern Wastes. No one is entirely sure whether these creatures are a lesser form of dragon, or are in fact their young -- if it is the latter, then the prospect of even a few of these beasts reaching adulthood is terrifying indeed. Luckily, that takes several hundred years, but with so many of them freed from the pens of Angmar, you have a great deal of work ahead of you.

Previously this page stated, "Since all dragonets are drakes, it is substantially easier to complete this quest by killing diseased or other dragonets in Moria rather than adult drakes in Angmar or elsewhere." Now, the easiest known method of completing this deed is by visiting the cave called "Wyrmdelf" located to the Northeast of Eaworth, in the Entwash Vale region of East Rohan. While there are dragonets in Moria near the First Hall in Nud-Melek, they are of far lesser abundance than the dragonets in Wyrmdelf and they also take a longer time to spawn. For these reasons, Wyrmdelf is the greatest known location in Middle-Earth to kill dragonets and drakes. It's also efficient to run Dragonet-slayer or its sequel concurrently with this deed, because a single kill will advance two deeds simultaneously.
