Decoration Items
General
Owning your own home in Middle-Earth is a unique experience. What makes it so special is that one can furnish that home, both inside and outside, to suit one's personal tastes. Some kinships hold seasonal "housing competitions" where they award prizes to Kin members for the "best decorated" home (appropriate to the season).
Each house has a certain number of "hooks," each unique, which allow one to place decorations throughout the inside of the home and out in their yards. To learn more about this process, click on Housing. Note that housing decorations are cosmetic in nature. There is no mechanism to acquire or install additional storage chests.
Decorations are obtained in many different ways:
- Purchasing from Housing Furnishers in your community (homestead) center with in-game currency (gold, silver and copper).
- Purchasing from Reputation vendors with various Factions throughout Middle-Earth, with in-game currency (money or barter items).
- Bartering specific creature and mob hides with taxidermists.
- Crafting (various Professions).
- Received as quest rewards, especially seasonal rewards during festivals.
- Of special note are the lore pages, collected in the landscape, that reward with Audio Journal decorations.
- Random drops from various Mobs.
- Purchasing from the LOTRO Store for LOTRO Points.
- Decoration types that are exclusively found in the Store are Property Guards and Crafting Stations.
You will quickly discover that you collect far more "Decorations" than you can possibly display, even in the largest home or kinhouse.

- Adjacent to the "Decoration Mode Toggle," at about 8 O'clock is the "Housing Management" button. Clicking that button opens and closes the "Housing" panel, where you can pay your rent and perform other Housing related tasks.
