Burnoth, son of Baldeg and the Riders Four are first encountered outside of Harwick, in the Wold.^{[39.8S, 51.6W]}

They bear news of an impending invasion of Khundolar Easterlings and must inform each of the Reeves of the Eastemnet. After informing Aldor Harding, the Riders Four continue their mission, making stops at Cliving,^{[42.9S, 55.9W]} Eaworth,^{[47.7S, 63.9W]} and Snowbourn ^{[60.5S, 62.3W]} before continuing to Edoras.

After the Battle of the Hornburg, Burnoth, son of Baldeg and his company ride to Minas Tirith.

With the death of Léofdag, son of Winedag during the battle, The Riders Four are now the Riders Three. They are first encountered in Ost Rimmon, working to remove traps from the road through the Beacon Hills. After that, they continue east, stopping at Erelas before catching up with the other Riders of Rohan at the War-stead of the Rohirrim.^{[44.9S, 28.6W]} They plan to apprehend the traitor among the Rohirrim who murdered Léofdag. Separated from the main force of the Rohirrim once again, the Riders Three must get someone to distract the Enemy's forces so they can ride straight through the blockade in Taur Drúadan to reach the Battle of Pelennor Fields.

Once the battle is joined, Burnoth and his companions can be found on the Field of Onslaught.^{[27.2N, 16.3W]} They seek to reach the king, though are unable to reach him before his death. At Kings' End, they have Leofdág's spear, Wrecend, placed at the site of Théoden's fall.^{[22.5N, 13.5W]} Having learned that the unknown traitor is a servant of Crúmgam, a Man of Mordor, they partner with Reeve Fastred to apprehend these two villains.

After avenging Léofdag, the Riders Three continue the battle. All three survive, though Ulf the Reaver is wounded. They can be found at the Threshold of the City.^{[22.4N, 16.3W]}
