Using Preview

Please use the preview feature when you are editing pages.

Depending on the way your edit page is configured, you will have a button beside the "Save Page" button called "Show Preview", or there will be a tab to show preview. This allows you to review the results of your edit before you commit the changes to the wiki.

When you use the preview feature, you are able to get the page looking the way you want before you save it, so there is not an incorrect or messed up version of the page on the wiki for a short while, where other people might see it.

You will find that the preview feature also lets you experiment with format changes; you can make a change to the formatting and see how it will look before making that change public. You can always use the "Cancel" button if you need to discard changes that you don't want to keep.

Welcome around.
While I agree with RTC I also noticed that there was many minutes between each edit, I guess you found more content to add while you were playing. I have to admit that sometimes I work the same way, edit as I go and if I do not anticipate more edits I save...and then there are more to edit anyway. But if you believe there will be more edits, yes, RTC's advice is good. You may have several edit pages open at the same time (presuming you are using a modern browser), preview as you go, and save when you think you are done with that page. However, in the end of the day we are more happy that you contribute and rectify or amend to the pages than we are whining about the way you do it ;)

Maddened Dusk-wolf (Archet Dale)

Great job on spotting and fixing that creature!
No complaints, none at all. If you want to improve, read on, otherwise stop here ;)

You created a creature which share the name with another and stronger kind.

  • Go to the generic named page and click what-links-here and keep that page open a while. Quite often you will find links that actually should have been for your new location-specific page. Fix this links.
  • Move the generically named page to a location-specific name without allowing a redirect. This way it is harder to make mistakes when creating links for either of the two and forgetting to check that the link became correct.
  • Go back to the what-links-here (for the now "deleted" page" and fix the remaining links.
  • Use Template:Other to cross-link between the two (or more) creature pages.
  • Unless images are OK, use the "image = " parameter and fix/move/add images accordingly.

I fixed everything I found for Maddened Dusk-wolf (Archet Dale) by moving the other page to Maddened Dusk-wolf (West Bree-land) and fixing some links. Then I found Bronwe's Folly was linking to the stronger wolf, but that was the only mistake I think some editor had made in the past. For all fixes, see Special:Contributions/Zimoon, the edits between Item:Matted Skin until Maddened Dusk-wolf (Archet Dale) and this edit.

If any of the above seems too much at the moment, take notes and come back later. Yes, some kind of edits generate extra job, I am well aware of that and am probably among those having the most experience about it at this wiki. But in the end of the day you may pride yourself with being thorough and knowing that you leave a clean and great-looking sheet behind you :-) Keep the great job up!!!
