About me

My history of electronic gaming goes back to the mid 80s when the Commodore C64s, Amiga 500s and Atari 2600s around. I got my first PC at the age of 9 when a relative presented me with a mustered out IBM 80286 with 1 MB of RAM, 20 MB of HDD and a VGA Display. That day it was either Windows 3.11 or Wing Commander. Also, there were games like Leisure Suit Larry and Space Invaders present on the HDD. Retrospectively, LSL wasn't a good choice for a 9 year old but my English was so poor that I was unable to bypass the Age checking contest anyway. Growing up quickly I learned English in school and also in the afternoon watching The Munsters and Monty Python's Flying circus in original English with German subtitles. Growing tired of the subs I started picking up the language rather quickly. Being quite disappointed by the German version of Civilization, I edited the translated files to better suit the sense and placing of words to fit into the assigned space on screen and had done my first major translation done in my life at the age of 11 or so. Without knowing, that was the start of my career as a translator and that's what I'm doing with my life now. Computer games still take me in from time to time and I was an enduring player of Diablo2 online for a long time. When the first big MMO Phenomenon hit (yes, I'm talking about the 3 letter game), I tried to give that a shot on a limited trial account with a friend. Realizing quickly that not being about to group up, trade items and with only grinding quests to perform, we gave up on the game quite shortly afterwards. Being an active reader and being not a big fan of most German translations, I quickly found myself reading one of my favorite books of all time in it's original English version: The Hobbit. Soon after, the LotR trilogy followed suit as well as a lot of other books. I'm a big fan of the early Dragon Lance books as well as the Death Gate Chronicles both by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. I also like reading SF novels like the Gaunt's Ghosts Series by Dan Abnett. About a year ago or so I realized there was a game about the Lord of the Rings world and that they went F2P. After my first MMO experience was a rather disappointing one, I decided to give that one a shot. Despite being a natural skeptic, I was taken completely by surprise and I loved it right from the start. I started off with a Dwarven Champion I named Drugar after a character from the DG-Chronicles. I quickly realized they were pure awesomeness! I also got a close friend of mine playing and with his choice of an Elven Hunter, we were the perfect match to quest our way through the starter areas, the Lone Lands, Trollhaws and into Moria. I finally reached lvl 75 with my trusty Champ around Christmas 2011. There were a number of alts created to fill my needs in crafting and those took a little time to level in their crafts. Now another 6 months later, I've got another 2 chars at the level cap with Caputo my beloved Hobbit Burglar and Tonenas my healing and lightning wielding Elven Runekeeper. My playstyle would be Explorer. I love the Burgler for his ability to plainly sneak about and go exploring undisturbed by the mobs present. Currently, I'm working on my Orthanc gear for the Champion (Tank set) and Burglar (damage set) as well as the Limlight Gorge quests.

I quickly found a good site for help with quests and deeds in German: hdro-der-widerstand.de but quickly found that being out of date a lot. I started to look for an alternative and stumbled about this place. One of my special skills is finding spelling mistakes rather quickly and that led me to registering here (because I can't stand a persistent spelling mistake on a page I view quite often). I'd like to lend a hand here correcting spelling mistakes when I find them and adding contend which I find missing. I'll only spend tome working here whenever I find any for that.
