I updated this template with an optional unnamed first parameter to pass the amount of item XP given for a quest. --Gaerlin 12:42, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Variable Item Experience

The problem with inputting the amount of experience it awards is that, unless I am mistaken, I found that it gives a variable amount depending on the level the quest was undertaken. Higher level characters are given a lower amount. Putting the IXP tag minus the amount granted is probably a better option. -- Starbursty 06:32, 8 March 2011 (EST)

  • FWIW... I believe IXP awarded is not based on Character Level as such, but rather based upon the number of LIs one is presently leveling ...
IXP from MOB kills is 1/2 of your (blue line) experience. Non-blue line exp is, or at least was, 1 to 1 (MOB exp = MOB IXP)
As far as I know Quest IXP is a fixed number.
However, in both cases, IXP is modified by the number of items... When you have 6 items slotted you have 216% of the initial item XP being split between the 6 items.
I know this or something like it was true prior to recent changes, and the topic was discussed to death, but I can't find the relevant comments at the moment.

(I wish Turbine would date Dev Diaries, article number implies more recent, I assume ... )

Ok, after "consulting" with folks on my Kin's (OTG) private forum.... this is apparently how IXP works, apparently the same as the Group XP Modifier: https://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Mechanics:Fellowships

  • IXP from MOB kills is 1/2 of your (blue line) experience. Non-blue line exp is 1 to 1 (MOB exp = MOB IXP)
  • Quest IXP is a fixed number.
  • 1 item  slotted IXP = 100% Exp/1
  • 2 items slotted IXP = 120% Exp/2
  • 3 items slotted IXP = 144% Exp/3
  • 4 Items slotted IXP = 160% Exp/4
  • 5 Items slotted IXP = 180% Exp/5
  • 6 Items slotted IXP = 216% Exp/6
(if you bought extra LI slots ...)
  • 7 Items slotted IXP = 216% Exp/7
  • 8 Items slotted IXP = 216% Exp/8

So, back to your original comment, a value for IXP is probably not meaningful, and would explain why Turbine does not indicate one in-game, only in the chat-log. Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC (talk) 19:39, 28 June 2011 (EDT)

Yeah those numbers look right, they're the same as in the table just above here. Amphoras (talkTalk to me!) 07:39, 29 June 2011 (EDT)

Should "worth" template also include IXP

Should the worth template be updated to include an IXP entry -- or would that cause too much of a disruption?

Definitely not. Keep the worth template as just coin. Since IXP is separate line item in the in-game visual for quest rewards and has its own icon, it makes more sense to keep them separate. My only suggestion would be to add the IXP template to the default preload for the Quest boilerplate (along with Quest Rep) and folks can delete it if the quest does not have it.
