Comments by MadeOfLions on the "Corrupted Heirloom stories" in Chapter 2.1 of the Black Book of Mordor

It turns out, Chapter 2.1 has different versions of quests ... But from what does it depend, does anyone know?

I wanted the Corrupted Heirloom stories to feel like an anthology of Middle-earth short stories to help flesh things out in areas that aren't necessarily related to Mordor. There was originally a patch note in the release notes for Mordor that mentioned class-specific quests in the Black Book, but I asked Cordovan to take it out because I wanted to maintain some of the element of surprise for people who played through on a second character. Looks like it worked! :)
To see everything would involve lots of alts, but I know there are players out there with more than enough alts to see all the stories. I have my own favorites (generally some of the more melancholy Heirloom stories), but I'm curious to see which ones you guys like the most.

Where did you find the wards in Rohan? I'm looking all over the marked spot and there are no wargs here at all.
If you already talked to Eldmath at this spot, you should be able to leave and come back to summon more wargs to fight. If he wasn't at this spot to talk to, you might have jumped ahead by mistake and need to talk to him back at town.

... I believe you encounter Lothrandir back in Suri Kyla. How did he get back so quickly?

It's funny, he asked me the same thing about you guys! ;)
The real answer is that all of the Allegiance storylines take place over a window of time, so any of the Grey Company's work in support of Elessar attaining the crown is understood to have happened before most of them head back to their homes, and if you see them back in Eriador and environs they're back in unfrozen-time Some Time Later. I don't really feel a pressing need for your drink with the Grey Company to happen on-camera, but if it ever does it would have canonically happened sometime before everybody headed north.
It's possible there were further adventures before he made it home and we just haven't seen them yet, but Lothrandir does return to Sûri-kylä after the War and I liked having him there for the Minstrel heirloom storyline, so the time issue didn't bother me enough to leave him out.

It's tricky, though, isn't it? It's the kind of scene that's personal enough to maybe be better-suited to leaving in each player's imagination. I'm not ruling it out, but I suspect that if I do tackle it it'll be in flashback. :)

Are the pathetic stats on the reward working as intended?

It was bugged at launch, and I've been told that it was fixed. If it's still not satisfactory, consider that you obtained it at the beginning of Mordor and not at the end, and there's surely much better loot ahead of you; replace it if you like, I won't mind.

My heart broke too! But my major concern is that we've reached the end of our time with the Grey Company with so many loose ends ...

I make my living on loose ends! I wouldn't worry too much about most of these - what you call loose ends I call story potential, and always have.
