Description

A Relic-master was found at the South Gate of Bree. He was standing at a boot outside the auction house, together with a forge-master. He was removed in Update 33.1.

At a Relic-master, a character could have a Legendary Item deconstructed.

Unlike normal items, Legendary Items didn't become vendor trash when a replacement came along. When the time came to part ways with a Legendary Item a Relic-master would be able to assist with recovering what is possible. The item must be unequipped and unlocked.

Once a few Legendary Items had been deconstructed it was possible to combine Settings, Gems, or Runes to a higher tier. That was found under the Relic Forging tab. A decent number of such items to work with was needed. Combining was very simple: take up to five relics of the same tier (they didn't all have to be settings/gems/runes; they could be a mix-n-match) and combine them. The result would be one random relic of the next tier. Occasionally a critical success would yield shards or extra relics. Combining cost either money or shards.

If not satisfied with the result of the combining, it was possible to meld relics into a relic of your choice of the same tier. This cost shards instead of money. Note that tier 10 relics could not be combined (as there was no tier 11), but they could be melded. Moreover, there are several 'special' relics that could not be acquired by combining, but only by melding multiple relics. By melding the character was also able to acquire legendary scrolls, stat legacies, and legendary items. These only required shards, not relics.

Shards were acquired by refining relics, which destroyed the relic. The higher the tier of the relic, the more shards given. There was additionally a chance to receive shards when deconstructing Legendary Items, with a higher chance for a higher-level item. There was also a higher chance of a larger amount of shards. A critical success while combining relics also provided shards.
