Bestowal dialogue

'I've done it! I think I've done it! I've discovered the source of the fungus!

'Yes, amazing, I know. Listen closely: there are unseen lines of power, invisible, intangible, that run through and beneath the well-loved stone of Khazad-dûm. I think that something is using the intersections of these lines to power itself, and is thus creating the fungus!

'Evidence? Well, that's where you come in! You are my new assistant. Congratulations. I have determined three likely spots where the lines intersect: you will need to go there and examine whatever fungus spores you find. I'm just sure that they will yield clues! Search along the southern wall of the great chamber in Nud-melek, just beyond Khadar-zarâm, south-east of here.'

Background

Káti believes that unseen lines of power criss-cross the whole of Khazad-dûm, and that their intersections have somehow caused the fungus-infested horrors.

Objective 1

  • Find the first line of power
  • Find the second line of power
  • Find the third line of power

The fungus spores are along the southern wall of the great chamber of Nud-melek, below Khadar-zarâm, south-east of the Twenty-first Hall.

Káti wants you to find the three intersection points of the invisible lines of power in which he believes and examine the local fungus there for clues.

Examine the fungus spores

Objective 2

Káti is in the Twenty-first Hall, north-west of Khadar-zarâm.

Káti will want to know that his theory was wrong.

Káti: 'Excellent, you have returned! I have been eagerly awaiting your report, <name>! Now tell me -- no wait, let me guess! Were the fungal blooms different colors at those points? Did unusual creatures feed upon them? Did....
'What do you mean, you found no clues?!
'Nothing? Nothing at all? Are you sure? Ah. Well...really?'
