Bestowal dialogue

A brave herald of the Rohirrim has come to attempt to stave off battle with the Dunlendings, but one faction is bent upon killing him before he can parley with the other Chieftains.

Background

Having quickly moved to rescue a herald of the Rohirrim from a Dunlending ambush, you have arrived only in time to desperately fend off the attackers

Objective 1

  • Talk to the Rohirrim herald

Defend the herald of the Rohirrim from his ambushers

Fastgyl: 'You are correct...I hear the baying of the Dunlending hounds approaching even now.
'It seems we were fools to trust these wild men to parley fairly, but so be it...let us show them the quality of our valour!'
  • Defend the Rohirrim herald
Fastgyl says, "I hear the baying of those accursed hounds, quickly, make ready!"
Fastgyl says, "Beware, there are more upon us!"
Fastgyl says, "Argh! Look out, an archer!"
Fastgyl says, "The injury is grave my friend..."
Fastgyl says, "I hear more of them coming - I fear we shall both fall here..."
Fastgyl says, "Wait... the horn I carry... I have not the strength left to sound it... but you may!"
Fastgyl says, "Sound the horn of rohan... and pray my bretheren hear it..."

Objective 2

Overwhelming numbers of wild men are approaching. Summon the Rohirrim to your aid.

Blow the Horn of the Rohirrim
You blow the Horn of the Rohirrim

Objective 3

  • Defeat the Dunlending attackers

Hold out until reinforcements arrive.

The Rohirrim have come to your aid

Objective 4

  • Check on the Rohirrim herald
Fastgyl: 'You are a fine <race> to stand by me in my final hour.
'Take my horn to the Ford and let Grimbold know that I have fallen. Tell him I am sorry...'
The herald's voice trails off into labored breathing as he closes his eyes in pain and exhaustion.
He does not speak again.
The herald has fallen
Fastgyl: The herald has fallen silent, his breath coming in a few last ragged gasps as his life fades.
