Character Page

I have moved your character page to the correct place. As there are now 2 of these I suggest you merge them & place {{delete page}} on the other when you have finished. Please use that & not your user page. Thank you.
On another note, welcome to the wiki - nice additions to reputation. :)

Thank you - oh & my bad, it's {{Delete Page}} in case you need to use it in future; I really should remember that by now. DancesInTrees 00:30, 6 May 2008 (PDT)

Nice job on the Ranger session play info!

I was just reviewing changes that need to be done and pages that need to be put in and found the Ranger Session Play page filled in. Nice!

Excellent Location Additions

Great job on adding the new areas, it needed to be done! The only thing left now besides filling information here and there, is dealing with the coords and maps so we have the tooltip coords working for those new places. Wish I knew how, not sure if you do or not. Rogue 20:00, 30 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks :)
I'll do my best to fill in the content - wanted to do to very basic things first. More stuff coming soon(tm)!

Coldfells Heavy Armour Quartermaster

In the Coldfells Heavy Armour Quartermaster page the Reward template don't worked, because you missed the <onlyinclude> at the beginning of the Item pages (example Item:Protector's Boots (20)). Barny (talk) 15:08, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

The Moors Article

As Magill pointed to in the above link, I'm looking to completely redo the Monster Play article. It's arguably the most important as it will be the first resource potential new recruits may look to. It was copied originally from the original Dev Diary I believe and has been edited by users past and present over the last 7 years, changing out-of-date information. With the big changes in U13, there really is a good chance for a clean-up. So I think we should rewrite the article completely with a clean slate and hopefully make it more newbie friendly. Can't do it on my own, though! Haven't been playing regularly in Moors for a wee while now (may not be the highest ranked, but one of the most knowledgeable players). After this I hope we can also do some of the most central articles as well, generally improving the standard of articles. Looking forward to working with you :)

MoorsUpdater (talk) 19:07, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
Sure! I play mostly freepside and my first goal was to add and update all of the freepside quests, NPCs and armour sets. I'm sure we'll get some great teamwork done on the rewrite of the Monster Play article; looking gorward to it as well  :) --Tharondir (talk) 06:39, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
Wonderful! I'm glad to know you play freepside mostly, as I play creepside - we should be able to clean most stuff up between us ;). I may not be the highest ranked or leveled but I am indeed very knowledgeable. I was thinking that we should perhaps use the existing article as a base point to start off with, and keep the format mostly the same. Perhaps we should stick to our own strengths - you focusing on the freepside and me on the creepside etc.? My freepside experience is limited to 6 hours and 3 ranks on a scaled hunter, and a while in freepside on beta ;) ~ MoorsUpdater (talk) 16:06, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Agreed then - you deal with creepside while I do freepside. Seems like a perfect matchup :) --Tharondir (talk) 11:40, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Ettenmoors/Monster Play Work

Hey there! I would love to collaborate and see if we can't add in some sections for the Freep side of the moors as well? It's really empty and there is so much they should have there as well. Would you be interested in that? Email me at daltonbeta1@gmail.com and we can get in touch. Thanks.

Sure! I'll send you a mail - what do you have in mind for freep side? I recently added all the missing quests and am now in the process of adding the missing armour sets. --Tharondir (talk) 17:12, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Edits

Hello! Been seeing your multitude of edits, keep up the good work! One thing I wanted to point out, when you move pages (due to a spelling error for instance), make sure the original page is deleted (or marked for deletion if you can't delete it yourself) rather than remaining a redirect to the new page. Certain redirects are necessary and helpful but probably not ones changed due a small spelling error. Deleting/marking the page as you go along will ensure the floaters don't get missed and buried ;) --Savi (talk) 14:02, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice :) I'll stick to that. --Tharondir (talk) 16:22, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Moors Timeline

Heya there, I do apologise for my lack of contact which stems mostly from leveling my hunter with no time for the Moors, which did seem to take my mind of editing the page. I've also been quite busy in the past week but it seems to have subsided for now.

The work you've been doing on these MP pages is amazing! There's much less stuff to be updated now fortunately!

Anyway, for reference in a number of articles, I was wondering if you had any idea how long both forces have been in the Ettenmoors? Based on some evidence it would seem they moved in mere months ago, but according to some it could be as many as 30 years or more.

Speaking of lore, I've been searching the Wiki MP articles for good stuff, but apart from Gúrhardron and Iachador (and a few other articles) there's little in-depth lore, leaving a lot of gaps to fill. I don't know if the lore on those pages was Player-made, but I think it likely (probably from the Lorebook if not the original Wiki).

So have you got any good sources of lore that we could use to add some depth to the articles?

Thanks, MoorsUpdater (talk) 16:59, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Welcome back :)
Lore-wise, most of my intel comes from information provided through quest text. Especially the introduction quests for freepside (A Plea from Lainedhel and the three follow-ups) have been helpful with writing the Coldfells Army article. As for an estimated time line; my guess would be not more than half a year. --Tharondir (talk) 21:08, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

LVL 100 STATS

Before you have do to this for every Update for every NPC/Creature create a Template, were you have do to this only ones per Update. Example as for Template:Level Cap you can create it for Morale and Power. If you need help therefore, I can help you. Barny (talk) 12:14, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

I would create one Template and would make one standart value and then the exceptions. Example for the Morale of the Sergeants-at-Arms:
             {{#switch: {{lc: {{{1|}}} }}
             | Sergeants-at-Arms = {{#if: {{{2|}}}
                                   | {{#switch: {{lc: {{{2|}}} }}
                                     | elves = 83,685
                                     | Coldfells Sergeant = 37,194
                                     }}
                                   | 84,531
                                   }}
             | and so on ...
             }}

u14-B4 issues

LOL... it seems that B4 is non-functional on the Mac Client. Hopefully they will fix it before the end of B4... but if not ? does that guarantee B5?

And, at least for me, playing through WINE, the PC client crashes in about 15 minutes if I have any Lua Active!

Guess I'm going to have to work to get up to level 100 and skip logging quests for a bit to try to make sense of this damm bunch of Dailies. It seems to be more than slightly confusing.

Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 19:03, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
No Mac client? Wow, that sucks :( If you need anything from the test server, I'd be happy to help out. I do not have a character at lvl100 though -- I did not do any landscape quests. Didn't want to spoil them for live. --Tharondir (talk) 19:21, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

U14 Moors barter NPC updates

I have done some initial revising/updating of the Barter Vendors in Glan Vraig -- Egbert Ditchins (Burglar); Landru (Warden); Tongdir (Hunter).
I basically:
  • Revised the listing order (breaking it up into multiple tables) and inserted new headers.
  • Moved Items which were "obviously" obsolete, i.e. no longer offered, to the bottom. There may be others I missed.
While these items are no longer offered, if people have them in their inventories, they will continue to exist.
  • Renamed most armour to be "<item name> (Level XX)" and the Armour Sets the same way.
Most armour seta we had in the listing before were either Level 65 or 75; now the sets are level 75, 85, 95 and 100.

There is still more to be done, but that was a start. (Something to do when I got bored with the DA dailies.)

Beorning Trainer

Why you add the "Category:Beorning Skills" to the Beorning Trainers? The other classes also don't have this. Barny (talk) 12:06, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

It was added to the first Trainer article (Beorning Trainer (Vales of Anduin), see history), so I thought it should be the same with each Beorning trainer. --Tharondir (talk) 12:44, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
I don't like it. I would remove it. Barny (talk) 14:06, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
You're probably right, one can always check the Beorning Skills page for that info. I'll remove it from the trainer pages. --Tharondir (talk) 14:08, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
Is there more than one Beorning trainer? So far I have only seen the one located in the Vales of Anduin.
I would doubt that Turbine will be adding them as all they do is sell the three Class books.
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 21:26, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
There are those who barter the raid sets from Moria, Dar Narbugud, Barad Guldur and Tower of Orthanc. I have not yet uploaded pictures for them because they all still have the standard female appearance (woman from archet). But other than that, they are functional. Once you hit Moria, check the 21st Hall and you will find the first of them. --Tharondir (talk) 21:30, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Roving Threats

Roving Threats are being fleshed out on Bullroarer... I've started to add info on the "new" Roving Threats from 15.2.3 (Build 3).
In particular see the Category:Roving Threats Quests and Roving Threat Quartermaster.
I have not yet "checked out" any of the Gondorian NPC characters, I am guessing that there will be one Quartermaster and 5 quests for each Area.
So far, as you enter each area for the first time with a level 100, you get an auto-bestowal to go see a specific quartermaster.
No idea if the past info on mobs implies many more, or different quest targets.
Assuming Turbine stays with their pattern -- there will be 5 quests per Area, and the same 2 questions for all.
  • I am planning to do Misty Mountains and Forochel quests next, and to continue to verify that the Quartermasters are all bartering the same thing. So far, yes they do.
  • I haven't really figured out what makes sense for transclusion at the moment, so I'm just throwing everything into the Category:Roving Threats Quests, so feel free to "re-organize" if you see any obvious pattern. The obvious pattern would be the Warbands but I don't know that is optimal, especially with the Quartermaster structure.
  • I assume that there are more Item: Gift-giver's Brand drops than the 3 per quest. The 200 Gift-giver's Brands requirement is very high if that is the case.
  • I'm also guessing that there is/will be one or more deeds associated with these threats as things progress. Probably one deed for completing all threats in each area, and a Meta-deed or each Region. That would fit with Turbine's current patterns.
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 13:25, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Eastern Gondor

Thanks for the work on Eastern Gondor -- Turbine has really trashed the Mac Client this time around. Mean time between crashes is about 30 seconds, or the first land-block, which ever comes first :(.

Hopefully build 3 will address the problem. Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 09:21, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

I hope so too! Would be a shame if Mac users were left out again. --Tharondir (talk) 10:14, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Zerg / Zerging

The meaning of this term has always alluded me. I sort-of understood its meaning from its use in context on the forums, so I finally got around to looking for definitions. (And I haven't played PvMP since the level cap was 50!)

I've created the definition for the Game Terms page -- Zerg.

I assume the description of its origins is correct as I never played Starcraft.

Please take a look and see if it makes any sense, especially in the LOTRO space.

Thanks! Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 15:44, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

Patrolling

Hey Tharondir!

Quick question, do you know anything about patrolling? I tried to do it this morning, but I can't seem to mark articles as 'patrolled'.

Looking for a new project!

Hey again Tharondir!

As you may have seen on my projects list: it is all quite finished. Categorization is mostly done, a few problems remain. I was wondering if you had any tips for a new recruit about relatively easy articles to add or modify as a new project for me. ^^

U16.2 Work

I've started collecting information on the 16.2 PvMP changes.

User:Magill/Projects-U16-PvMP-1
One thing I've done is to tinker with the Monster Play "header." - Template:L:1:Monster - and an alternative Template:Infobox_MP_test
The first is the "standard" Monster Play table coloring -- the test version is based on the other MP color scheme.
Any preferences?

Sundering

Hey Tharondir,

I hope I did not annoy you by adding the The Sundering of Osgiliath page while I was bored during downtime today. I tried to make it look as complete as possible. Feel free to completely obliterate the contents it once you get around to it :) --Freepy (talk) 12:59, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Maps - 17.beta and 16.2

While adding the maps for Update 17, I noticed that the coordinates for the Sundering of Osgiliath (16.2) don't work quite right.

If you look at the test page, all of the values wind up at the bottom of the map -- instead of in the NW and NE corners and center. East/West seems fine, it is apparently only the N/S number that is wrong, so the NW and SW or NE and SE place the swirlie in the same spot - slightly below the map on the left or right corner. The Great Bridge similarly, is below the map, but in the correct left-right (E/W) position.

I played with it for a bit, but did not come up with the answer. I'm guessing that there needs to be some sort of fudge-factor added as is the case with Old Anorien, but I couldn't find it.

Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 09:47, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I had the same problems when trying to get the coordinates for the PvP map to work. Thank you for trying to fix it. I guess we are on the same page here - I cannot figure out what we can do right now. As for Old Anórien, this problem seems to be related; do you know anyone who might have the knowledge to sort this out? --Tharondir (talk) 09:49, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

Minas Tirith

Beautiful job on re-formatting that page!
I love that long-range portrait you got of the city.
  • One thing which I know we will need to keep an eye on is the addition of quests for NPCs as content is added moving forward. I suspect we will still have as much to do as we have already done.
I know (ha- predict) that The Wheel and Cask will have some kind of quest from Meldis to clear out the "bugs" from the back-room. :)
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 18:24, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
Glad you like the way I edited the page. :)
I am sure there will be some more changes coming in the next beta builds, such as NPCs being moved or new quests added. I only completed the quests given by Forlong and Húrin, saving the rest for live. It is unfortunate that we will not get a chance to preview the next epic book, because the epic quests tend to be the most sought-after on the wiki, and I would appreciate it if we had them added before the update goes live. --Tharondir (talk) 05:58, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Beta of 17 is done

In case you missed Vyvyanne's post in the thread about the Build 4 release notes:

"This was the final Bullroarer build for Update 17."

Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 17:59, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, this kind of sucks because I was not able to get in after the stress test last saturday. My bullroarer client alwayd got stuck on "Connecting to patch server". I would have liked to finish up Minas Tirith, since many things have changed in Build 4, including travel horses to the seven tiers among other things. I have screenshots from build 3 for some of the Talath Anor locations and will add them over the week. Anyways I hope the preparations for U17 are enough for when the update goes live. --Tharondir (talk) 18:57, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Old Pages Under Construction

Hey, Tharondir. I was looking at to see what other pages are currently under construction. According to that page, the pages and are both under construction. The template was put there by you, but neither of them have been worked on since, at the latest, 2014. If you're done with those pages, can you please remove the Construction notice from them? -- Gestrid (talk) 18:57, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Haradrim versus Southron

When I inspect a Haradrim Sorcerer (Pelennor) it tells me the species is Haradrim. Isn't that what we should use in the article?

Southron is used for both Haradrim and Corsairs. --Tharondir (talk) 20:40, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Update 19

In preping stuff for update 19, User:Magill/Sandbox-U19- to do, it is clear that we will have "fun" with the maps as the E/W line runs through most of them.
I'm also considering changing the existing "Minas Tirth (after)" to match the rest of the new naming conventions - "Minas Tirth (After Battle)".
I should mention -- it appears that they might be two different maps -- have to check some more!
Stay tuned!
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 17:48, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Not different coordinates, a different map name -- an underscore!
Is there a reason why in User:Eleazaros/coords.js (last entry) it is "case "Minas Tirith_(after)":" - i.e. "_(after"?
Is that necessary to get the JS to deal with the parens?
The actual file name seems to NOT have the underscore in it.
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 18:34, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Hey Magill, thank you for the heads-up on update 19. As I am on my phone right now I'll keep it brief. I will get to adding u19 stuff on wednesday, my top priority will be the new epic book. About the underscore added in the Minas Tirith after coords- that is intentional, I was unable to get it to work any other way. Feel free to fix it :) --Tharondir (talk) 19:02, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Note that Turbine is (so far) adhearing to their "weekend only" access for bullroarer. Build 1 came up on the 23rd (Friday), apparently around 4pm, and went down on Monday, the 26. (It was down at 10 am, when I tried to log-in.)
