Thanks for taking the time to update the Warbands pages, they are in definite need of an overhaul.

I did notice some of your screenshots have a number of issues such as:

• Third person perspective with visible player character
• UI elements visible
• Labels and quest icons visible
• Target is too dark

The help pages have a section on Technique to Capture an Image which explain how to fix these types of problems along with other useful advice.

I'm confused

On [[Talk: Bugud]] you state "this page needs deleting" -- but it's just a talk page. Either simply blank it, otherwise ignore it.

You can't delete a talk page independent of the primary page. i.e. there will always be a talk (discussion) page corresponding to the main page.

That said, did you mean to delete the main page Bugud?

• There are two ways to request/do that.

1- put the Article Management Tags - {{Delete Page| some reason}} on the page, which will generate the banner: {{Delete Page|nocat=y|because I don't like it}}

This tag marks an article with the banner above and adds it to Category:Articles for deletion where an Administrator can act on the request to delete the article.

2- in the upper right corner of the page to the right of the star next to view history is a small triangle. Mouse over it and it becomes a drop-down menu with 3 options:

• Delete - requires "Administrator" rank.
• Move - you can do this with rank "Ninja!"
• Protect - requires "Editor" rank.

Thanks for clarifying some of what is / was my actual confusion.

The page in question was the original holder of the first picture I uploaded for Bugud, which I have since updated with a new far superior picture, entitled Bugud1.jpg.

On a Lotro Wiki search I put in 'Bugud' as the search parameter and it led directly to that page and not the main Bugud page, which is why I announced I could not delete that Talk page, in the hope someone else would, as it's empty, redundant and is filtering searches to Bugud to an empty page.

I am not requesting the main Bugud Warmaster page be deleted at all, just the redundant empty Talk Page mentioned to stop the search filtering problem I myself encountered.

I am new to the pros, cons and etiquette of Wiki's, this or any others, and also my account limitations on what I can and can't do, so any help guiding me towards understanding is most appreciated.

ps. I just saw Snarpel updated the Bugud Talk Page so there is no need to request a deletion of that page as it holds good information.

Tips for New Editors

What is this language we use here? The code we use is called wiki markup. It is not HTML but under the hood the wiki-engine creates HTML from the markup; see Wiki Markup for more information. Lotro-Wiki uses MediaWiki which recognizes wiki-markup, many HTML tags, and CSS. Staying Current In the left-hand column, the link "Recent discussions" will list any recent change to a talk page. Using that link is an easy way to "stay current". An even better way is to chat with other editors and admins. Red links in Preview Mode If a link turns out red it indicates an error, usually a typo or "page not found". Something that should be fixed before saving them page. However, when editing in newly added areas we accept red links for pages expected to new added soon; all red links can be found using a link under "Special Pages" in the left-hand column. Removing "Stub" Tags Some pages have an Article Management Tag, meaning the page needs additional work. When adding the missing information, please remove the tag, which removes the page from e.g. Category:Stubs/Mob or whatever category the page was tagged for. Creature vs. Mob "Mob" is an enemy inside an instance, while "creature" is any other enemy. Kill vs. Defeat At Lotro-Wiki we never say "kill" but always say "defeat". How to Delete a Page? Only Administrators have the ability to delete pages. Instead you can tag a page for deletion by adding {{Delete Page|<reason>}} at the top of the page. However, we prefer to keep old pages around for reference so we use the {{Obsolete}} tag. Similarly, certain information on a page could be useful for future reference. Either hide that info under a collapsed table titled e.g. "obsolete info", or move that info to a section at the bottom of the page, similarly titled, or to a new page with a name indicating the info is old. Chat with other editors for advice. How to Move (Rename) a Page? Only Administrators can move a page, use the {{Move}} tag, and give a reason why.

Derndingle

FYI - I just did some editing to your travel section for Derndingle, and added another route -- basically wikifing a bunch of the references to the Phased aspects of the maps. You can also get there from the Broadacres and Eaves of Fangorn, but they are easy to do, but hard to describe. :) They are easier to discover by LEAVING Derndingle rather than trying to find your way in if you have been there before.

Read over what I wrote and see if it makes sense to someone else - :)
