Crafting Tier

While less explicit than other MMOs, tiers are an important mechanic in LotRO and an understanding of how they work is helpful when explaining other game concepts. You will notice that while tiers do not correspond to regions, they may correspond to areas. While there is not a significant difficulty gap between tiers, you will notice a difference in the rewards gained by completing tasks - your bags will fill quickly if you move between tiers without clearing them first. Crafters will be aware that the componants they require can be found in certain areas but not others, and should also realise that dropped recipes will only be found in areas with a matched difficulty level.

Tier 1

• Location: Most of Ered Luin and The Shire as well as a large part of Central Bree-land
• Nodes: Copper Deposit, Rowan Branches, Shattered Pitcher
• Equivilent Crafting Tier: Apprentice
• Approximate level range: 5-21

Tier 2

• Location: Edges of Bree-land, Old Forest, most of the Barrow-downs, Western Lone-lands, Western North Downs
• Nodes: Barrow-iron Deposit, Silver Deposit, Ash Branches, Broken Urn
• Equivilent Crafting Tier: Journeyman
• Approximate level range: 22 - 31

Tier 3

• Location: Central & East of The Lone-lands, Eastern North Downs, Eastern Evendim
• Nodes: Rich Iron Deposit, Gold Deposit, Yew Branches, Antique Vase
• Equivilent Crafting Tier: Expert
• Approximate level range: 32 - 41

Tier 4

• Location: The Trollshaws, South Angmar, Western Evendim, South-eastern tip of the Lone-lands
• Nodes: Dwarf-iron Deposit, Platinum Deposit, Lebethron Branches, Forgotten Text
• Equivilent Crafting Tier: Artisan
• Approximate level range: 42 - 49

Tier 5

• Location: Angmar, Forochel, The Misty Mountains, Northern Eregion
• Nodes: Ancient Iron Deposit, Ancient Silver Deposit, Black Ash Branches, Ancient Vase
• Equivilent Crafting Tier: Master
• Approximate level range: 50 - 59

Tier 6a

• Location: Eregion, Moria
• Nodes:Khazâd Skarn Deposit, Ilex Branches, Sage's Locker
• Equivilent Crafting Tier: Supreme
• Approximate level range: 60 - 65

Tier 6b

• Location: Eregion, Moria, Lothlórien
• Nodes: Khazâd Skarn Deposit, Ilex Branches, Sage's Casket
• Equivilent Crafting Tier: Supreme
• Approximate level range: 65
