Checked Gondamon's board just now with a level 6 - no tasks available, so the levels there are at least 11. Thanks to those who got this section going! Sethladan 00:36, 23 December 2010 (EST)

Rewards

If the rep rewards are the same for each quest on a given board, do we need a separate rep column? Perhaps this information could just be listed at the top of each table under the Location name? Eadangar 12:53, 23 December 2010 (EST)

I agree; so far it seems like things are pretty consistent. Something like, "Unless otherwise indicated, (area name) tasks grant +300 reputation with (faction)"? We could revisit this if it turns out there's a little more variety in the rewards; I wouldn't be surprised to see Turbine tweaking this a lot in the near future given the mostly disappointed feedback on the forums about it. Sethladan 13:59, 23 December 2010 (EST)

Quests & Items

A bit late now, but I was wondering if those quests for tasks were useful, because lots of boards have the same task name for their surroundings, but with different descriptions on where to find them, and of course reputation reward with different factions. Should add board name to the task quest, if we want to continue having them. For example, the current task Extremely Sharp Claws is relevent for Tinnudir's board, but not for Thorenhad's board. Similar problem with the items created, all tasks could be listed, and various beasts dropped from could be added too. --Goingbald 13:32, 31 December 2010 (EST)

Echad Garthadir

Checked tonight with level 43 (don't ask how I got there, hahah) and no tasks available; suspect this will be for at least 50+. Sethladan 22:09, 5 January 2011 (EST)

Tasks Organization

As for the problem of of the same Tasks with different places, I solved that with having the quests point to the same link with more info relevant to the place of origin. See Task: Toughened Carapaces.

Each Task linked to the same Quest should have Rewards, Bestowal Dialogue, Background, and Objective 1 information relevant to the linking Tasks Bulleting Board so refer to the actual board where it is seen rather than copy and paste since that would incur false and incorrect information.

The other option, I guess, would be to add (Place) after each quest, like Quest:Task: Toughened Carapaces (Gloin's Camp), Quest:Task: Toughened Carapaces (Thorenhad), etc. This is usually how disambigs are done in other parts of the wiki, I think. Would it result in a ridiculous number of separate pages here? Sethladan 04:57, 10 January 2011 (EST)
An additional point in favor of separate pages is so that tasks for each area can be auto-categorized into the right place (like Category:Ered Luin Quests, for example). This might be a little neater than having one page falling into multiple regions. Sethladan 05:39, 10 January 2011 (EST)
Searchtime-wise, it goes in favor one one unifying page. Using that method, with Tasks like Task: Pure Black Fur, typing "Pure Black Fur" in the search box would incur 7 different pages (the item and the tasks) while the one-page method incurs 2 pages (item and task). Doing the one-page method provides future-proofing in case Turbine adds more "Pure Black Fur" tasks. Example: Turbine provides 5 more settlements with the "Pure Black Fur" task. Instead of adding 5 more pages for a total of 12, you add zero pages and modify only one page. Starbursty 06:05, 11 January 2011 (EST)

Lorebook Guide

Happened to see this today - might be useful for filling in some missing spots until we can get the info confirmed in game. http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Task_System_Guide Sethladan 19:29, 20 January 2011 (EST)

Dunland Section

I think the original table structure is much better editing-wise by using this:

Lhan Rhos [87.1S, 23.2W] (turn-in at Galtrev)

Task Qty Level Faction Standing Increase
Spotted Ears 4 65 Men of Dunland: 300

I think that the section got overly complicated. You could always link to the Dunland section by using the code Tasks Bulletin Board#Dunland (Levels 65 - 68). The tasks that were level 65/68 in Dunland point to Galtrev. The level 71 ones at the Rohirrim Scout-camp, Forthbrond, and Grimbold's Camp point to Forthbrond. -- Starbursty (talk) 23:37, 9 October 2011 (EDT)

Daily Tasks Plugin

I have written a plugin that contains all the task board information and provides a convenient way to track task items and where they can be turned in. I have spent a LOT of time verifying the task items and level ranges and correct any typos my users find. The listing by location can be used to check details for this wiki page. The plugin home page is Daily Tasks reference and item tracker Dadown (talk) 16:14, 28 August 2012 (EDT)

Appreciate the corrections and, as someone who's spent a lot of time working on a plugin of his own (that will probably never be finished because it's much too ambitious, heh), salutations for your had work! Sethladan 14:53, 28 August 2012 (EDT)
Thanks for the note. I usually use the Busy Bee plugin, but it's always hard to tell how actively a plugin is being managed and checked for errors. It sounds like you've been working hard at it. -- Elinnea (talk) 14:58, 28 August 2012 (EDT)
I've looked at the Busy Bee plugin and it has an interesting way of displaying the data, but it doesn't looking like the original author is maintaining it any longer. Mine has evolved over a couple of years from a simple chat-line driven plugin to one that can mostly be used windowed, but still supports all chat commands. If you play several alts, its a must-have for sorting trophy items to the appropriate alt. Dadown (talk) 17:22, 28 August 2012 (EDT)

Task item count changes

With U8, many tasks changed to have an item count of 10, instead of 4, 8, and 15.

Despite what Turbine claims, please verify that the task item count has actually changed before changing this page or the task quest page. Some tasks still have item counts of 1, 3 , 4. RingTailCat (talk) 09:56, 19 October 2012 (EDT)

@RTC: when you say some still have 1, 3, 4, which regions is that about? The release notes excepted some higher level regions, but have you seen 1,3,4 also in lower-level regions? If that is the case we should indeed verify each and every bulletin board, otherwise we only have to verify the higher level regions, don't you agree? -- Zimoon (talk) 11:40, 19 October 2012 (EDT)
I've just checked the Gap of Rohan and the Great River tasks, and they were all 10 except for the two Limlight Gorge tasks, which were singled out in the patch notes. So those regions at least are falling into line. -- Elinnea (talk) 11:53, 19 October 2012 (EDT)

Level Ranges

The level ranges listed on this page are inconsistent. The lower-level ones seem to correspond to the range of minimum levels for tasks, and the upper-level regions are showing the level ranges of the regions themselves. I actually think it would be most useful to show which levels will have tasks available, so that means starting at the lowest minimum level and ending at the highest level + 4. The Misty Mountains, for instance, would show as "The Misty Mountains (Levels 37 - 50)".

Whatever way it is, though, we should decide and make sure all the regions are presented consistently. -- Elinnea (talk) 11:54, 19 October 2012 (EDT)

The higher level regions do NOT follow the quest level for tasks. Dadown (talk) 12:19, 20 October 2012 (EDT)
I always support Elin .. almost always. This time too. But as RTC says, eyeball verification. It is possible levels here and there are changed as well. Turbine changed many level thingies, why not also tasks? I have never been much into tasks but may do a few occasionally at my lower level toons so I will not be of much help. -- Zimoon (talk) 15:03, 20 October 2012 (EDT)
I'm certainly in favor of re-checking the levels of tasks - particularly in the Great River, which was just re-scaled overall, and I forgot to check the task levels while I was just there. And Moria needs to be verified - I've seen some task levels there since the revamp that don't jive with what it says now, everything being level 53.
But my point is that the page headings should be set to match the task levels. I see now that I didn't explain my thought clearly yesterday. If I come to the page at level 75, looking for where I could go to turn in tasks, I would go to the section East Rohan (Levels 75 - 85), but I would be misled, because no tasks would show up for me until I reach level 80. I think the heading should show what levels I can turn in tasks at, not the general level of the region. The individual tasks have certain levels, and we definitely shouldn't change any of those without seeing it in game. I hope I've expressed it a bit clearer now. -- Elinnea (talk) 19:01, 20 October 2012 (EDT)
If you take your level 75 player to East Rohan now, you will be able to take any and all of the level 80 tasks shown at Tasks Bulletin Board#East Rohan (Levels 75-85). So I read the heading as saying "Tasks for players at levels 75 to 85" rather than "Tasks at level 75 to 85". I really don't care about the level of the task quests themselves, just whether I can find tasks for my player. The question I most often want to answer is "Do I keep or sell this trophy?". The existence of a task for my player level helps to answer that question.
The second most common question is "Which trophy should I collect?". Prior to U8, the item count was a clue to the trophy drop probability: items for 15 count tasks were common, 8 count items were uncommon, and 4 count items were rare, 1 count items were very rare. It is easier to complete tasks for commonly dropped items. Now it's harder to determine which trophies to keep and which to throw overboard (or sell) when your bag space gets low.
RingTailCat (talk) 19:48, 20 October 2012 (EDT)
Wait, really? That means they've fundamentally changed the way tasks work. It used to be you could not accept a task until you reach the level of the task quest itself - that's why they're labeled as minimum level on this page. And then they're only available for a range of four levels above that minimum. If that's not true any more, we'll have to change the explanation at the top of this page, and you can forget everything I've been blabbering about. -- Elinnea (talk) 23:00, 20 October 2012 (EDT)
My head in in Rohan these days, so…. But, as far as I recall, Dunland and Great River worked the same way. I think it has a lot to do with the levels of the mobs which drop the trophies. At lower levels, the mob bands (the zones where you found a particular level of mob) were a lot smaller. In the higher end regions, the zones are much larger. There may be differences between the task availability at low end vs high end levels. RingTailCat (talk) 23:59, 20 October 2012 (EDT)

If you wonder which of your trophies you cam use, you should try my Daily Tasks Plugin as described above. It will check all the trophies in your inventory, tell you which ones are junk, which you can use and what sets are ready to be turned in and where they can be used. Finally, if you have alts, it will tell you which alts can use them and help you move them to another bag for easy transfer to your shared vault. Dadown (talk) 00:50, 21 October 2012 (EDT)

I've been checking, and the higher-level tasks can definitely be taken below the quest level, but the tasks in Bree-town cannot. The task boards in the Great River still include the text about only being able to take them within four levels. Curious, most curious. -- Elinnea (talk) 00:58, 26 October 2012 (EDT)

Update 13 chage

Announced in Build 2 of Update 13 on Bullroarer:

  • The maximum level of tasks has been removed. Tasks can now be done up to any level.
Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 21:23, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
* Confirmed with the live release of U13 - no more level caps. Also, North Downs, Misty Mountains, and the Trollshaws have been revamped. We'll have to make changes to the lists - new boards in Misty Mountains, different listings in the Trollshaws - I haven't visited the new North Downs but I'm sure the tasks have changed there, too.
