The start

Ok, it needs a LOT more work, but I've got a good portion of it done. I don't know how to delete this page once I'm finished, but when I finish, I intend to replace the entire Legendary Items page with this one. If this page needs to be moved so that it's not a publicly-searchable page, that's cool. I don't know how to do that. However, if you don't mind, leave a message on my talk page letting me know how to get to it so I can continue to edit this page.

Review

Sorry I took so long getting around to looking at this - RL can be a pain sometimes :)
The article looks quite impressive.
I see no particular issue with any of the tables except for the fact that the Legacy Tier Indicators definitely goes up to six!
- T6
  • The other comment I would make is that there should be some wording in the Getting Started section to the effect that:
  • You cannot dual-wield Legendary Items - if you are a class that can use two melee weapons at once, only the main-hand weapon can be a Legendary Item. This means you cannot use a crafted spear and still use a Legendary Weapon, as a spear must be in the main-hand slot as well.
(crap, I just noted that I didn't update that quest's rewards with my Beorning!)

Now that I'm looking at the original article, maybe the answer is to simply integrate much of the "Overview" text.

Quoted with replies:

It's actually already in there, in the first paragraph under "Getting Started". It's wordy though. What you're REALLY saying to me is that "Tim, it was hard to find, so I missed it. Maybe you need to make it more obvious." And I agree! So I'll get on that.

This is actually already in there, under the "How to Obtain" section. This section is pretty far down on the page. I felt like there were 2 competing themes: "What are they?" and "How do I get one?". I had to decide which to put first, and I figured that "What are they?" is a more important (and therefore, the first) question to answer. The Chapter 10 quest isn't mentioned in the rewrite at all though, so I'll get that in there. It might also be nice to know what quest bestows the first legendary bridle, but I don't know the answer.

  • Now that I'm looking at the original article, maybe the answer is to simply integrate much of the "Overview" text.

That's actually what I did. All of the stuff that's in the Overview, I snipped out and put into their relevant sections below. For example, in the Overview, it's mentioned that an older-aged weapon is better. On the Scratch Pad, there's a section dedicated to LI Ages. This was one of the main reasons I rewrote the page; there was so much information in multiple/incorrect places, and I wanted to sort it all out and put it all in its proper place.

I'll make the requested changes, and I'll "flip the switch" this weekend.

Oh yeah, almost forgot... with the Legacy Tier graphic... Hmmm... yeah, it's gonna be some work to fix that. The problem is that the graphics for T1-T5 are 1 single graphic, and then the T6 graphic is separate. I can make a table that just slaps T6 at the bottom, but... eh... that's hokey. It'll do for a quick fix for now, but it would be better to have either 6 separate graphics (1 for each tier) in a table, or 1 single image that incorporates the 6th tier with the rest. I didn't put that graphic up there in the first place though.  :-/ I'll sort something out.

Ugh... throwing that Tier 6 graphic in at the bottom is a nightmare. It would be better to just leave it as is for now, and rework the graphic.

Pages moved

I've moved the original Legandary Items page to Legendary Items (old)
and moved Li sandbox to be the Legendary Items page.
I've left the under-construction tag in place.

This is beautiful.

It needs some minor tweaks here and there, but it looks fantastic. Thanks for the assist with the topTable alignment, and the grammar.

In the Crystals of Remembrance section, there's a bad link for a "small crystal of remembrance." No such item exists on LOTROWIKI, and I tried asking both in-game and googling it, no results for such an item. Does anyone know if such an item exists? Balorgor (talk) 22:12, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
I was making the same search also with nil results (definitely not in the store). The Item existed on the old page, and as far as I can tell never existed on the Wiki. So, I would just say, drop it.
I suspect it is one of those items which "should exist" but never made it into the game. When Bullroarer comes back up, we can check to see if it exists on Bullroarer - which is possible.

Has anyone tried looking in the lotro compendium plugin? I don't have it installed, but someone who does should find be able to find out pretty quickly if it still exists or not (or if it was ever made in the first place). Balorgor (talk) 00:59, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
"small crystal of remembrance" doesn't exist. I have added all the items from U16.2 in LOTRO Item Database and there is only "Lesser Crystal of Remembrance" ("%crystal%remembrance" to search in the edit box for Item Name)
