This is a tranclusion of the Deed The Defences of Eastern Rohan -- however the Deed template is not built for transclusions!

Does anyone have any way of trancluding the objectives without simply duplicating them?

Technically the Deed template is built for transclusion; all templates are transcluded. That's the problem with changing the template to only transclude the objectives - the individual deed pages wouldn't show anything but the objectives either. I gave it my best shot on the Defences of Eastern Rohan page, but the first bullet point is finicky. -- Eggolass (talk) 02:54, 5 April 2013 (EDT)
Thanks. Looks good. Hmmm... I guess I don't see the "finicky" part.
As far as the deeds being transcluded -- other than into the Title page, I don't know where else the CONTENTS are actually transcluded. I see many links to The Defences of Eastern Rohan, but no transclusions. And off the top of my head, other than the objectives, I don't have a vision of how the other parts would be transcluded, or where.
Maybe I'm missing something completely, (or we are talking about apples and oranges) but I don't really see the relationship between copying the template itself to create a page, and then transcluding that created page after it has been created. As I see it, only the various <onlyinclude><noinclude>tags have any relevance on the created page.
I suspect that a substantial portion of my confusion relates to what is actually IN that section on the page '''{{Deed to }}''', i.e. what you did!... or rather what breaks if you do something like what you did. I guess I'm still simply not understanding what works, doesn't work, has to be converted from | to ! (or !!!) etc. And how all of that relates to modifying Template: Deed vs modifying '''{{Deed to }}''' on the individual pages
I know, I can claim that I'm only a toddler... having started this editing stuff only back in May of 2011.

No, the deed pages aren't transcluded anywhere else. When I say the Deed template I mean Template:Deed itself - it's transcluded onto all of the individual deed pages (like The Defences of Eastern Rohan), so if you edited Template:Deed to only transclude the objectives, it would break all of the deed pages. To transclude the objectives from each deed page to a title page you'd have to add onlyinclude tags to each deed page manually.
As for the finicky part, I had to add a blank line to the top of the objectives or the asterisk wouldn't convert to a bullet point on the title page. There might be a cleaner way to handle the formatting, that's all. -- Eggolass (talk) 06:07, 7 April 2013 (EDT)
