Renaming of "Trainers" to "Masters"

Crafting Guild Trainers are now called Masters of Crafting Guilds. The various intro quests need to be updated to say that you need to visit one of them first, and the existing page on trainers needs to redirect to a new one on Masters. I can probably manage this in the next couple of days, but am noting this in case I don't get to it. David 08:10, 30 May 2011 (EDT)

Picking the Best Guild Link

The External Reference section for picking the best guild seems to be very outdated. It sounds like it was written not long after legendary items came out, and makes it sound like the various guilds have nothing to contribute, LI-wise, which is definitely not true anymore. Imo, wrong information is worse than no information, so does anyone mind if I remove the link? Don't want to step on any toes, especially since I don't have a better guide to put in. Nobody reminds, if we disagree we will rollback, that's the beauty of a Wiki :)

Good point.  :) Thanks! Kadi (talk) 15:17, 10 January 2012 (EST)

Shared cooldowns

I was looking for information about the reputation items: are the cooldowns on the small/medium/large items shared? Can you make a Small Expert Symbol and then make a Medium Expert Symbol and a Small Artisan Symbol? -- Candlelight (talkcontribs) 12:10, 4 June 2012 (EDT)

They're not shared, no. In a single sitting you can make one of each guild rep item that you've learned a recipe for, as long as it's not already on cooldown. The countdown will then tick down for each one independently, so you'll be able to make the small symbols again sooner than the large ones will become available. -- Elinnea (talk) 13:46, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
That's good :) Maybe it should be added to the page? For someone that's thinking of only going VIP for a short time and want to get the most out of it (eg. not have to buy guild access) it's quite interesting. -- Candlelight (talkcontribs) 08:35, 5 June 2012 (EDT)
Good point. I've added a small note. If you'd like it clarified more, or you want to add a separate note for the temporary-VIP crowd about maximimzing their guild-crafting time, feel free to do so yourself. :) -- Elinnea (talk) 13:08, 5 June 2012 (EDT)

Re: Zimoon's undo: I think it's useful to let readers know the minimum amount of time needed to grind guild rep. I've seen several guides that take such an approach (such as here or here). People should be able to figure out that they will fall behind if they aren't prepared to log on at all hours of the day and night. (I tried once to manage my cooldowns to earn the next tier of guild rep within a week. It was stressful.)

Note, though, that it's not called Kindred any more: the highest tier is Master of the Guild. -- Elinnea (talk) 17:43, 5 June 2012 (EDT)

While such information is useful in itself it rather belongs to a guide. A wiki is not a guide but data-provider. I believe crafting once a day is the common norm, perhaps even less because of IRL hinders. What is highly useful in a guide is: exactly which resources do I need, and their amount. A nice chart of how far a per-craft-event takes the crafter would be cool, but not required -- and a per-craft can be quickly translated by the player to either every 24 hours or shortest time possible, though that math is trickier as the quickest ones quickly become out of sync with the medium and longer.
I did not mean to be rude, but we need to differentiate between data and guide and personal opinions. It is fine to create a "Quickest Way to Master Crafting Guild" page and link to that. Personal comments always go into the Talk-page. Or am I out of touch with reality? Keep up the great work you do Candlelight! :)

I can see what you're saying, though I'm not sure I would interpret a minimum time to master a certain guild to be a person's opinion: it's more of a mathematical result. It's not much different from the "total points needed" column which is included on this page, though a little more complicated to figure out. I guess a separate guide page would be best, but speaking for myself I don't have time to put together such a thing. I'm sure it would be useful for some people if it did exist. -- Elinnea (talk) 22:42, 5 June 2012 (EDT)
I'm not angry, nor irritated. But, it was in fact a calculation (I can show you if you want to) and not an opinion. -- Candlelight (talkcontribs) 01:30, 6 June 2012 (EDT)
Fine :)
I did not mean this to be an opinion, I am sorry if it came across that way when I wanted to speak generally. Still it is not a piece of data but a value inferred from best possible circumstances .. such as being able to login at exact hours. And if you think of it from a newcomer's view the value is a joke as she won't have all the resources (depending on when she sets out the levelling of course).
If we just try to keep "data" at the common pages, and derived results and guides at other pages, then I believe we will have clear and crisp pages. We could sure have use for many many guides, that is one thing I miss with this wiki. Then I do not mean those lengthy guides at the official forums, but well enough to get new and medium players going. And then some of the more "talkative" paragraphs from some data-pages could be moved to these guides---we sure have some pages which contains lots of "talk" and less "data" ;)

Rank/Rep requirements

I think the table may be outdated. Requirement for the jump to Journeyman of the Guild is 20,000 (not 15,000) and, similarly, the jump to Expert appears to be 25,000 (not 20,000). Halgoreth (talk) 10:19, 20 September 2012 (EDT)

It was, for some reason changed in diff, sorry that I did not catch that mistake back then. -- Zimoon (talk) 16:06, 20 September 2012 (EDT)
