Quest Talk:Epic Battles: Basic Training

This quest is also offered by Gamling before completing the quest Vol. III, Book 13, Chapter 4: Helm's Dike, with the following dialogue:

Gamling: 'Aragorn gave us all some advice pertaining to Epic Battles, <name>. Do you remember? Speak to me to learn all about them!'

But that quest seems to be level 94, while this is level 10.

However, Erkenbrand's Messenger has been made obsolete so maybe this quest cannot be obtained any longer??? — Zimoon 09:23, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

It does look like the lv10/scaling version of this isn't in game now- tested things a little bit, and though you still get Item:An Epic Battle Awaits at lv10, Erkenbrand's Messenger like you said isn't in game anymore. I can only find the lv94 version you take from Gamling in Helm's Deep - after midnight, which you can only get to by advancing the epic, tho the quest is still repeatable and can be taken even after you continue on in the epic. Still called 'Epic Battles: Basic Training' though. --Thalion (talk) 19:53, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

However, looking at LotroCompanion there is something fishy here.

As Elinnea said, there is a "Gamling: 'Aragorn gave us all some advice pertaining to Epic Battles...'" and that matches the level 94 "Epic Battles: Basic Training" there, which quickly leads to a same-name "tutorial" which matches Quest:Epic Battles: Basic Training (Instance) perfectly, tagged as level 10 in LC.

Maybe this quest should be rewritten? As I do not yet have any character that level I am at a loss and instead of obsolete I set it to accuracy-check. — Zimoon 13:14, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
