Walkthrough & Notes
|
This quest instance is meant for a Fellowship but is also possible to complete as Solo-only.
- Travel to and enter the Helegrod Treasury to start this instance.
- At the bottom of the main stairs leading down into the instance, you should inspect the obelisk by clicking on it.
- It says to "invoke the name of Elbereth" but no emotes or other actions are necessary at this obelisk beyond the initial inspection. Simply find and use 3 other obelisks. When you click on each obelisk, your character will raise its arm and text will show saying you invoked Elbereth.
- Fight your way through to inspect 3 other obelisks.
Spoiler Alert
|
- The obelisks are in the 2nd, 4th, and 5th caves starting from the left (heading clockwise from the original obelisk).
|
- The very first cave to the left contains two obelisks that are covered with sand. They are dead and cannot be activated. This isn't a bug!
For the final fight:
- Stay close to the Obelisks in the Nazgûl's battle area, as they will counteract the health loss from the Nazgûl's Dread.
- Be aware that the Nazgûl will heal almost completely at one point in the fight.
- You only have to get the Nazgûl's health down to about 4,000.
- After the Nazgul becomes a Pile of Robes, your work is done!
- Finish the instance and then the main quest.

Rewards

Bestowal Dialogue
Fire and Ice
"Elrond Halfelven fears that the remaining Nazgûl has enliested the aid of the Gaunt-lord Drugoth to instill a fell spirit into the frozen corpse of the ancient Dragon Thorog and raise the beast once more as a wight. Little time remains to stop their evil plans."
Background
At the behest of Master Elrond of Imladris, you have entered the abandoned treasury of Helegrod to end the Nazgûl's scheme to restore the dragon Thorog.
Objective 1
Seek out the Nazgûl and end his schemes.
Objective 2
Examine the obelisk.
You have encountered an obelisk that was glowing faintly.
- Obelisk: A plaque on the side of this obelisk is written in several tongues. It reads:
- 'I, Durin, lord of Khazad-dûm, have delved this vault with the aid of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain. To protect the great riches found here, there are obelisks crafted by the arts of Elves as a token of friendship.
- 'Only those who invoke the name of the Star-kindler may pass. Three times three are the obelisks, and three times must you speak.'
Objective 3
- Invoke the name of Elbereth at the obelisks (0/3)
Seek out the obelisks and open the way to the centre of the treasury.
Examination of the obelisk found at the entrance to the treasury revealed that the only way to enter the centre treasury is to invoke the name of Elbereth at obelisks found scattered through out the treasury.
Objective 4
Seek out the Nazgûl and end his schemes.
Now that you have invoked the name of the Elbereth at three of the obelisks in the treasury, the way to the centre of the treasury is open.
- ''Drugoth the Death-monger says, "I tire of these intrusions! You will wait!"
- ''Nazgûl says, "Enough! Do what we came to do and be done with it."
- ''Drugoth the Death-monger says, "Your service is needed, spirit! Go, join your brothers!"
- ''Drugoth the Death-monger says, "Send your power into this mighty Dragon."
- ''Drugoth the Death-monger says, "No! He is breaking free!"
- ''Drugoth the Death-monger says, "The meddling of these fools has broken my control!"
- ''Nazgûl says, "Quickly, go and pursue your charge!"
- ''Nazgûl says, "I shall deal with these witless worms!"
- ''Nazgûl says, "Fools! I cannot be slain by your arts! I return to Mordor and my master!"
- You have unlocked the movie 'Fire and Ice'.
