Walkthrough & Notes

To get Gwin's support complete Dunlending vs Dunbog before going to the Withered Stones. Use Gwin's Banner (there are several located around the Withered Stones) to call him to you as an ally. He provides the Protection of Life effect. Bloodmaw will reset if you leave her nesting area before defeating her. Bloodmaw will also reset if Gwin leaves the immediate area. This can happen if you start the encounter at the entrance to the nesting area, with Gwin standing behind you and he tries to circle Bloodmaw. Gwin will leave when you leave the Withered Stones area.

Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'You are ready for the ultimate challenge, <name>. We must defeat the avanc called Bloodmaw. All of these avanc come from her. She must be dealt with, or Lhan Rhos may one day be overrun. If you can do this, you are truly a friend of the Avanc-lûth. 'Bloodmaw will not be easy prey. I have sent many hunters into the ruins to fight her and none have reported the deed is done. Go...gather any help you wish or prove that you can do it yourself, just come back when she is dead.' Background The avanc of the Dunbog are ruled by a terrible matriarch, Bloodmaw. Objective 1 Defeat Bloodmaw, the avanc matriarch Bloodmaw may be found at the centre of the Withered Stones in the southern Dunbog. Harri has asked you to kill Bloodmaw, the Avanc matriarch. Harri: 'Defeat Bloodmaw, <name>, and you may recieve my respect.' You have defeated Bloodmaw Objective 2 Talk to Harri at the hunters' camp Harri is at the hunters' camp, near the western edge of the southern Dunbog. You should return to Harri and tell him that you have accomplished all that he has asked. Harri: 'Indeed, you are worthy of the name of hunter. Well done. The Elders will hear of your great deed when the day is done. 'Thank you for your bravery. You have put my hunters to shame.'
