Bestowal dialogue

Elf or Man:
'Weapons of this make may have a long and storied history, <name>. Its tale grows ever with the felling of evil foes -- the more servants of evil this weapon cuts down, the more deadly it becomes.

'Only a skilful few can read the tale of a weapon from its craftsmanship. I refer you to one who can further aid you: the Elf Dithalion by the forges in Rivendell. He is wise and learned in many things, including the study of ancient weapons.

'If Dithalion cannot help you, he will surely know another who can descry the lineage and powers in a weapon of this artistry.'

OR

Dwarf or Hobbit:
'Weapons of this make may have a long and storied history, <name>. Its tale grows ever with the felling of evil foes -- the more servants of evil this weapon cuts down, the more deadly it becomes.

'Only a skilful few can read the tale of a weapon from its craftsmanship. I send you to the one who can further aid you: the dwarf Wafi, in Thorin's Hall in the distant land of Ered Luin.

'Seek out Wafi by the great fires of the Forging Hall in Thorin's Hall. He can assist you in reading the lineage and power of a weapon such as this.'

Background

You have received a weapon from the Elder Days, discovered by the dwarves in a hidden cache, and you must now delve for its secrets.

Objective 1

Dithalion is by the forges in Rivendell.

Hundi bade you to show your new weapon to Dithalion, an Elf of Rivendell who will be able to help determine the intrinsic strengths of the weapon.

Hundi: 'Dithalion will be by the forges in Rivendell, Baracc. It is a long way, but he may be able to glean some knowledge from your new weapon that will be use to us.'
Dithalion: 'You have come a long way to be here, <name>. What business could bring a valiant <class> such as yourself here to the Forges of Rivendell?'
Dithalion looks at the weapon and grows still, his eyes wide in wonderment.
'This is a relic of the Elder Days, my friend! I fear I cannot identify the lineage and strengths of this weapon for you, but my friend, the Forge-master, may be able to do just so. Show him this weapon and he will give you an assessment of its strengths and potential.'

OR

Wafi is in the Forging Hall of Thorin's Hall in Ered Luin.

Hundi has told you to show your new weapon to Wafi in Thorin's Hall. Wafi will be able to help determine the intrinsic characteristics of the weapon.

Hundi: 'Wafi is in the Forging Hall of Thorin's Hall itself, in Ered Luin. It is a long way from here, but there are very few who can read the strengths of a weapons from its make, and Wafi is one.'
Wafi: 'You have come a long way to be here, <name>. What business could bring a valiant <class> such as yourself all the way from Hollin to Thorin's Hall?'
Wafi looks at the weapon and grows still and whistles his astonishment.
'This is a relic of the Old Days, to be sure! I fear I cannot identify the lineage and strengths of this weapon for you; it is ancient beyond my reckoning, learned though it may be in these matters.
'However, my kinsman Rósar, the Forge-master, will surely have more to say than I, for his knowledge is vast and exceeds my own. Show him this weapon, and he will give you an assessment of its strengths and potential.'

Objective 2

The Forge-master is at the Forges of Rivendell, right next to Dithalion. He has the skill to identify the mysterious weapon you have acquired.

Dithalion has referred you to Snár the Forge-master, who will be able to identify your weapon. From him you may learn of its strengths and potential for growth.

Dithalion: 'Show the weapon to my friend Snár, the Forge-master, and he will tell you of its strengths and its potential for growth.'
The Forge-master has identified the weapon, revealing its strengths.

OR

Rósar the Forge-master is in the Forging hall in Thorin's Hall in Ered Luin. He has the skill to identify the mysterious weapon you have acquired.

Wafi has instructed you to have Rósar the Forge-master, identify your weapon so that you may understand its strengths and potential.

Wafi: 'My kinsman Rósar, the Forge-master, can identify weapons of this sort that you acquire during your travels, revealing their secret strengths and their potential for growth.'
Talk to the Forge-master. Select the legendary item, and click "Identify Item".

Objective 3

  • Equip your new weapon
  • Talk to Dithalion

Now that your weapon has been identified, you must equip it if you wish it to increase in worth.

Dithalion: 'You must equip your new weapon if you wish to see its worth increase.
Dithalion: 'I see that you have been given some Relics. You should apply one of them to your weapon to further customise its abilities! Once you have done so, speak to me again.'

OR

  • Equip your new weapon
  • Talk to Wafi

Now that your weapon has been identified, you must equip it if you wish it to increase in worth.

Wafi: 'You must equip your new weapon if you wish to see its worth increase.'
Equip your new weapon.
Wafi: 'Incredible, <name>! This weapon is truly mighty, and you are fortunate to have come into possession of such a thing! However, it is not strong enough to stand against the creature of which you speak. A thousand curses on its foul hide for keeping the dwarves from Moria!
'I see that you have a number of Relics. You should apply one of them to your weapon to further customize its abilities! Once you have done so, Speak to me again.'

Objective 4

  • Slot a Setting Relic into your weapon to further customise its abilities

Now that your weapon has been identified, you must equip it if you wish it to increase in worth.

Dithalion: 'You should slot one of the Relics you have into your weapon, <name>. Slotting Relics allows you to further customise your weapon's abilities and strengths.
You have slotted a Setting Relic into your weapon

OR

  • Slot a Setting Relic into your weapon

Now that your weapon has been identified, you must equip it if you wish it to increase in worth.

Wafi: 'You should slot one of the Relics you have into your weapon, <name>. Slotting Relics allows you to further customize your weapon's abilities and strengths.'
Open the Legendary Items panel using the menu or hot-key. Select one of the setting relics and slot it.

Objective 5

  • Talk to Dithalion

Dithalion is at the Forges of Rivendell.

Dithalion has asked you to slot one of your Relics into your weapon in order to further customise its abilities.

Dithalion: 'A good choice, <name>! Slotting a Relic into your weapon based on the situation may help turn defeat into victory. It has happened before.
'This weapon is still not strong enough to defeat the Watcher in the Water, friend <class>, but it might become so. I will tell you how this may come to pass.'

OR

  • Talk to Wafi

Wafi is in the Forging Hall of Thorin's Hall in Ered Luin.

Wafi has asked you to slot one of the Relics you have to your weapon in order to further customize its abilities, and is now waiting to speak with you.

Wafi: 'A good choice, <name>! You will acquire more Relics as you adventure, and should free to customise your weapon with the appropriate Relic for each situation.
'This weapon is still not strong enough to defeat the Watcher in the Water, friend <class>, but it might become so. I will tell you how this may come to pass.'
