Location

Nargroth (Sindarin for Caverns of Fire, literally Fire-cave), is a point of interest and public dungeon within Talath Úrui on the Plateau of Gorgoroth. [59.1S, 28.3E]

Nargroth is a fortress built into the Mithram Spur on the eastern side of Talath Úrui. Within the outer walls, [59.1S, 26.5E] lava cascades down from the walls into a moat that is spanned by a bridge. [59.1S, 27.7E] Two pairs of Nargroth Fire-trolls and two pairs of Ghâsh-hai Berserkers stand guard along the way to the entrance. [59.1S, 28.5E]

The interior is a sinister citadel built into a vast fiery cavern. A great number of Ghâsh-hai Orcs and evil spirits of flame dwell within. Winding passages, stairways, and open bridges connect the islands of rock among the lava below, forming three main wings that branch out about halfway between the entrance and the Court of Horror. [17.2N, 12.9E] To the east lies the Strand of Fire, [17.1N, 14.4E] which normally cannot be crossed. The northern wing terminates in the Ledge of Dread [17.9N, 14.2E] and the Ledge of Fear, [17.6N, 13.9E] while in the south the passages circle the Ash Watch to the Ledge of Terror. [16.4N, 14.5E]
