Tactical Information

Longpincer in Skûmfil gets hit by a Lore-master's Lightning Storm.

Lightning Storm is a strong AoE burst damage skill, no matter how you are traited. It doesn't add to sustained DPS though, because of the long cooldown. Traiting deep into the Master of Nature's Fury line closes the gap a bit between Lightning Storm and strong fire damage based skills (like Improved Sticky Gourd and Ents go to War), because of the bonuses to fire damage the line provides. Lightning Storm then is still your most damaging skill, but by a smaller margin.

A target needs to have the debuff from Ancient Craft before you are able to use Lightning Storm on it. It doesn't matter if this effect is applied by you or another Lore-master. The Ancient Craft effect will not be removed after the skill is used. It is not possible to stack the effect.

Animation

Some complain about the skill animation of Lightning Storm, saying it blinds them and causes their PC to lag. Indeed the skill causes a bright flash, sometimes announced vocally by a Lore-master ("Close your eyes!"). The animation goes as follows: the Lore-master raises his/her staff in the air, summoning the storm, then plants it down into the ground with force. There is a bright flash and two strikes of lightening hit the target. This is depicted to the right, where you see the Lore-master just hitting the floor with her staff, while the target gets struck by the first lightning.
