Location
Amon Thaur (Sindarin for Abominable Hill) is a landmark on the slope of Orodruin, on the Plateau of Gorgoroth. [54.4S, 22.9E]
This hilltop temple of Sauron is normally inaccessible but is visited during Instance: Union of Evil and in the Resource Instance Road on The Burning Mountain.
During the Black Book of Mordor Chapter 4.4: Union of Evil, it is the site of the meeting of the Masters of Mordor. During Road on The Burning Mountain, which takes place after, Amon Thaur and the road from the broken Iant Ruin are being guarded by merrevail and bats under the Blood-blade, a lieutenant of Lhaereth the Stained.
Lore
- Amon Thaur was where Sauron bound the Nazgûl to his will. Whenever the Nazgûl were defeated, they would return to this place.[1]
