Images

I recognized some of your horse images from seeing them elsewhere on the internet. I was just wondering if you have permission to use them here, or if you have taken them yourself. For the rest, awesome job on adding all those items. Loot from instances is really something we are missing at the wiki. --Ravanel 08:24, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, if I recall correctly I first uploaded some horse-images from beta-poster (indeed from the internet) which I later replaced with a version I took ingame. I'll keep your note about permission in mind (did not think about that). I also uploaded some in-game images from the official Lotro-site, I suppose we may use them? --Tiberivs 09:53, 3 August 2010 (EDT)
We prefer in-game shots whenever possible. We do borrow from the Lorebook on occasion but with the intention of replacing it asap. Rogue 11:17, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

Skills

Wouldn't worry about skills right now. I am working on, almost finished with, a new skills template and have all class skills screenshotted and ready to enter new and updated information on that. I am also in photoshop with all skill icons cleaning them up for upload, taking care of those black corners. Rogue 11:14, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

Infobox Item

DO NOT USE infobox item template it is outdated. We use This. Rogue 11:18, 12 August 2010 (EDT)

Turbine Points

Just stopped by to say "thank you" for your updates to deeds, especially the inclusion of Turbine Points in each specific deed article. It is encouraging to see other people editing work that you're working on. It motivates me. Keep up the good work! Zagyg 14:29, 24 September 2010 (EDT)

Gapi (Ale Association Vendor)

I noticed that you removed a line of text on the Ale Association mount. It does require the Document of Mount Ownership. Was just wondering if there was a better way to place the text down with the image. -Clarkinator 22:00, 6 November 2010 (EDT)

Thanks, was wondering how that was done. -Clarkinator 16:50, 7 November 2010 (EST)

Image vs File

Image was the old way and it is now defaulted to File. So please leave file and change image to file when you see it. Rogue 12:14, 7 November 2010 (EST)

No problem, will keep this in mind -Tiberivs 13:02, 7 November 2010 (EST)

Deed categorization

Hey Tiberious. I was looking to Category:Tower of Dol Guldur Deeds and saw that some deeds are found in their instance deeds category, but also in this bigger category. The idea when I created this category was that the pages themselves would only be found in the subcategories (for instance: Category:Sammath Gûl Deeds etc), with exception of the meta-deeds. This counts for categories in general, it gives a better overview of them. I'll change this accordingly, hope that is OK with you. --Ravanel 08:13, 9 November 2010 (EST)

Hi Ravanel, hmzzz indeed something to think about. I arraigned them as they are in-game. I just updated ALL Tower of Dol Guldur deeds, and they are all in Category:Tower of Dol Guldur Deeds. Depending on which deed, they can also be found in for instance Category:Sammath Gûl Deeds. At last I added them all to Southern Mirkwood deeds. So what do you think? To much categories? I was planning to update the Scourge of Khazad-dûm, Moria and SoA deeds too this way.--Tiberivs 08:29, 9 November 2010 (EST)
Please don't. For one, I think they shouldn't be added to Southern Mirkwood deeds at all, since they are not in there in-game either. Deeds fall either under Instance Deeds or under Region Deeds. In this case, they would only fall under Instance Deeds.
For the Category:Tower of Dol Guldur Deeds, I know it isn't divided further in-game into instances. I did add these sub-categories though, because it helps seeing what instances deeds belong to, without having to click on each one manually to find out. Also, if you look at deed pages, this way of categorization tells right away for what instance they count. The general idea of categorization is that pages are added to the smallest category, which would in this case be the instance ones. Adding them to both is less structurized. So I think we can either remove the instance sub-categories (which I would find a shame) and put the deed pages all together under the Tower of Dol Guldur Deeds Category, or we can keep the deed pages only under the sub-categories, as it was before. --Ravanel 09:08, 9 November 2010 (EST)
OK, last option seems to fit more, I'll review all my changed from the Tower of Dol Guldur Deeds I did today and put them only in their instance-category. --Tiberivs 09:25, 9 November 2010 (EST)
Thanks! And also a general thanks for putting so much work into adding deeds lately. I started that some time ago when there were still loads of deed pages missing, and you seemed to be good at entering them at huge speed. Now each time I check if a deed is there, it is already there and entered by you. ^^ --Ravanel 09:44, 9 November 2010 (EST)
Hehe, np at all... I enjoy completing deeds in-game (most of them I completed on my main, so I can check personally), and lately I noticed lot's of deeds where missing incl their Titles (SoA included)... I wanted to update all of them for Turbine Points, so why not a full check-up incl player tips etc etc....

Quests and instances

I was looking at Quest: The Grey King and Quest:Instance: The Grey King and noted they are part of different Quest Chains, which is a bit strange, not certain if this is correct. Perhaps you could incorporate the instance in the normal quest, like as in Quest:Chapter 12: Prisoner of the Free Peoples (note also how it is done in the quest chains). --Ravanel 09:05, 1 December 2010 (EST)

Thanks!

Yeah, I started noticing that the templates were messing up the displays of items on other pages. I'll be refraining from using Tiberivs. I'll get on that 32x32! :D

Also is there a reason why the boxes shift to the left like Item:Blagrove's Brown while other items shift right like Item:Tirithranc? I couldn't find a reason why it does that on some items but not on the others.

LOTRO Store Categories Overhaul

I think the categories for the LOTRO Store is in need of an overhaul. It doesn't seem like I can place Potion of Ruindirith and other potions in the Categories section.

The Lotro store categories are categoriesed as like they are in de store it self.... I think these Items can be found below the LOTRO Store Healing & Recovery category (Category:LOTRO Store Healing & Recovery|*), no? -- Tiberivs 16:05, 26 December 2010 (EST)
Ok, just some of the links didn't have the "Category:" in front of them and I wasn't sure if I should move it to a page with the "Category:<name>".

Deed Template

Hio, Tibs! Congrats on your Adminship, by the way. :) Just wanted to follow up on our discussion about adding item counts to Deeds. I think you definitely spend more time working with deeds than I do, so if you want to update Template:Deed with your version or with mine, go for it - whichever one looks better to you. Sethladan 23:54, 31 January 2011 (EST)

Hi there and thanks :-)... I'll have a look and add the count to the deed-template... It's a little bit something and easy to use... so why not --Tiberivs 14:06, 1 February 2011 (EST)

Deeds Lore

Hey,
I saw lore-text changes from you on some deed pages and I wanted to ask what the lore text is. Is it that kind of text which appears when I hover the mouse over the completed deed icon? Because it seems to be a totally different text on my completed deeds pages. Where do you get the lore text from? Is there a field where the text from the completed deed icon (the colorful one) should be put in? I'd like to update some of the deeds here. --EoD 10:44, 9 March 2011 (EST)

Hi, well the lore-text is the text that appears if you hover over the icon of the specific deed (not on the right where there's also the objective, but at the left of the pannel (this text is also vissible if you do not yet have your deed completed). Please give me some examples of deeds you think are wrong... so we could double-check :-) --Tiberivs 16:35, 9 March 2011 (EST)
Tibs and I discussed this briefly (Template talk:Deed#Objective description) and you can see how he worked the "right-side" (of the Deed Log) hover text into the description on Such Generosity!. What we currently fill under "Lore-text" is usually easier to get - as Tiberivs mentioned - because you can see that even when you haven't completed the deed. The objectives, though, have to wait until you finish 'em. Most (pretty much ALL) of the Deeds are currently lacking that objective description, though - do feel free to add them! Sethladan 17:31, 9 March 2011 (EST)
I just changed Enmity of the Orcs as an example of a wrong lore text. I found some others yesterday too. I'm going to check those in the next few days. --EoD 22:11, 10 March 2011 (EST)
Great job, I myself have not yet checked the Racial deeds... nice to see someone else looking in to it :) --Tiberivs 06:36, 12 March 2011 (EST)

Sara Oakheart

I think she is from the Race of Men, and not a Hobbit, can anyone confirm? --Tiberivs 14:51, 14 March 2011 (EDT)

The form she uses is that of a Hobbit. Outside of that, Amarthiel is a spirit of some sort occupying a body of female Man. [1] --Starbursty 16:08, 14 March 2011 (EDT)

Creatures

Small note: please use the latest version of the creature template if you add it to creature pages. The old one you have been using is missing root-immunity, which has to be added manually when filling in the template on the creature page. The new template can be found here: Boilerplate:Creature. --Ravanel 07:26, 28 March 2011 (EDT)

Deed Template/Multiple Item Rewards (again)

Hi Tiberivs - I know we both worked on this a while ago and never really made any progress. Ravanel asked me about options for when a deed rewards with more than one item, and I revisited the whole number-in-icon idea we discussed months ago. I think you said on Template talk:Deed that you weren't very happy with that way of doing it. Would you mind taking a look at Saviour of Stoneheight and let me know what you think? I know you've done a lot of work on deeds and don't want to change anything if it doesn't look good to you. :) Sethladan 20:25, 31 March 2011 (EDT)

Hi Sethladan, it does not look bad at all, I innitialy made the color gold, but this looks better...maybe we can finetune it in the future! Thinking about it again, we can also implement this for the amount of Skirmish Marks. -- Tiberivs 03:04, 1 April 2011 (EDT)

Please have a look at the Badhordam page. It looks broken now. I assume it looked ok after your 2011.06.13 revision, but something has messed it up since. RingTailCat (talk) 10:50, 22 June 2011 (EDT)

Oy. Template:Reward run amok. Leaving a message for Amphoras to look at this, since I think he tried to make Reward work on quest pages by adding tables to each one. Sethladan 11:59, 22 June 2011 (EDT)
Copied from my talk page. /sigh Yes, that's my fault. I knew there was the risk of it happening, but I hoped there were no pages it would affect. Its not reward that's the problem, its the changes I made to imlink to work nicely with deeds. Previously deeds just assumed that the item's icon was called Item Name-icon. Obviously with the increasing number of generic icons being added, this would cause a problem at some point as the icon would not be under that name. Using imlink directly would give the correct icon, but it wouldn't fit nicely in the table. So, what I did was make imlink add the html tags needed to make it fit in the table if the page wasn't in a namespace. I couldn't think of any other pages that deeds that would use imlink, but I forgot about vendors. Good news is that I can easily fix it. Bad news is that one of the other solutions for deed now needs to be used. The other thoughts were creating a new mode which has the html tags needed for using on deeds, or adding another parameter to item pages to modify imlink if its called by deed. I think the new mode is probably the easiest and tidiest. Amphoras (talk) 12:23, 22 June 2011 (EDT)
Should be fixed now. Will try and make deed work nicely again later on. Amphoras (talk) 12:31, 22 June 2011 (EDT)

Bullcroak(er)

Hi Tiberivs, I saw you change the link on the Beryl Shard page from Bullcroaker to Bullcroak. Are you sure this is correct? That toad was always called Bullcroaker, but they might have changed his name lately? --Ravanel 12:51, 13 May 2011 (EDT)

Nvm, solved! --Ravanel 06:50, 14 May 2011 (EDT)
:-) indeed, and I double checked lorebook, there it was also changed, could not be coincidence. --Tiberivs 17:39, 14 May 2011 (EDT)

Quest template

Hey, I just saw your changes to Dark Idols. If you really want to clean up (more), we use a new quest page layout. Have a look at In His Memory for instance. There's a new template to simplify the drop down texts and for questchains. Just ask if you have further questions :) --EoD (talk) 12:01, 9 July 2011 (EDT)

Nice, looks great, going to use it in the future --Tiberivs (talk) 14:45, 9 July 2011 (EDT)

Map images

Heya. I just saw that most of your uploaded maps are distorted as you use a widescreen resolution. Can you please try to keep the original format of the maps? A higher ingame-resolution doesn't change the quality of the maps at all. :) --EoD (talk) 07:35, 2 October 2011 (EDT)

Burglar effects

Hi Tiberivs! I see you've been updating some Burglar related things, such as items which improve stealth level and Burglar effects. Thanks for that! However, for the "Provocateur" effect there was already the page Provocateur (Effect) before you created Provocateur. I'm used to adding a suffix "(Effect)" to prevent disambiguity, so if it's ok for you I suggest we keep this page. Just wanted to let you know before I delete something. --RoyalKnight5 (talk) 10:30, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Sure, I usually check for excising pages, and missed this one. In the past I only added (Effect) if the effect name corresponded the skill... but I agree, this makes it more clear Tiberivs (talk) 10:38, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

treasure bugan tip

I notice that you added a tip for completing the "Seeking The Treasure Bugans!" quest. It's good to have a tip for that, but I tend to disagree that bouncing between Sword-halls and Dungeons of Dol Guldur is the easiest way. The main issue with Dungeons is that if a patrolling gorthorog happens upon you, while you're chasing the bugan, then you get teleported to the instance start, and you'll likely fail the quest, since it takes too long to get back (and potentially you'll get teleported again before you return). Also, I think the opening sequence for Dungeons is too long (where the gertheryg fall asleep from nightshade, then the nazgul wakes them up, etc.).

I think an easier, more efficient way is to alternate between Sword-halls and other instances that don't require any combat to spawn/engage the bugan, such as Battle for Erebor, Escape to the Lonely Mountain, Fires of Smaug. Even solo Chamber is pretty fast, for a reasonably-geared character, the main downside being that one has to chase the bugan during the encounter with the Shadowed World-eater (but at least in solo mode, you have Frethi to assist with that).

For Sword-halls, it may also be wise to recommend running to the instance entrance quickly, after defeating the bugan, otherwise one is trapped by the gates and may need to defeat the first boss.

Agree on Dungeons, last two days I ran between sword halls en flight/BfE. Chambers is a bad idea because of the World-eater. Just run T1 fligt/SH/BfE and you're good to go Tiberivs (talk) 14:51, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

Item database work

Hey there, I'm currently doing some plug-in work, trying to homogenize item databases between here and the various plug-ins that already exist. Item Treasury for example has shown that the wiki is missing a large quantity of items that exist in the game. I'm considering creating a bot that can add the pages, but I was wondering what your opinion is on how to tackle this. We are probably talking about ~50.000 new item pages. So it's quite a major project. -- Freepy (talk) 14:22, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi Freepy, I thought about it 2 years ago or so... and although it's nice to have all items on this wiki, it will become extremely complex to get it right... You need to keep a couple of things in mind: deprecated items, already currently created items on wiki, items which share the same name in lotro but on wiki use an identifier (like 'Perfect Recovery'), etc. Besides that I think the power of lotro-wiki is to have the additional info, like the quest/deed/barter/mob the item is related to... all that info will be missing. But in general I like the idea, it will save lots of time if a (specific set of) item(s) is already available after an update. Tiberivs (talk) 18:06, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
I happened to notice this topic under "recent changes" and cannot but say that it sound interesting. I agree with Tiberivs that much caution is needed but one think I am curious about is the possibility to update existing items whenever stats change, without changing anything else of a page. It seems they change fairly often considering how many edits some of the rewards from epic quests have seen. But please join us at Discord so we can chat about options etc. Including possible legal aspects. — Zimoon 00:51, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

Question about Deed objectives

Hiya, I noticed we were editing in the same area simultaneously but nothing bad happened I hope. Regarding "The Quick Post of Yondershire" you are correct, all of that does not read in the deed log after completion. But compare with e.g. "No Place for Spoiled Pies", do you think it should have the many small bullets though. There are other, similar deeds that have those sub-bullets. What do you think?

Regarding the text in italics, I no longer remember where it came from. Probably when completing a sub-bullet, but I am not sure. Great that you tried to preserve it under the Additional Info section, I like that. — Zimoon 18:05, 27 July 2022 (UTC)

PS. It may come from LotroCompanion, where that text reads under each sub-bullet. Which kind of supports the thought it could have been system messages when completing a sub-bullet. DS. — Zimoon 18:08, 27 July 2022 (UTC)

The deed template says the following: Lore-text and Objective should be typed verbatim from in-game text as found in the Deed Log. So, the objective shows what the deedlog shows, if there are multiple objectives (like explorer deeds; multiple locations), they all get a bullet. If you hover over the section in de deedlog (which will only be shown if the deed is completed), you get the lore-text which we add in italics (I use LotroCompanion to copy the text, because it's a lot of work to type over). The deed "No Place for Spoiled Pies" seems also be incorrect, and should be corrected the same way :)... well "corrected" is such a formal word, that's how we're doing it for years afaik :) Tiberivs (talk) 18:17, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
I agree, I knew of the template but also remember that there were other deeds such as Spoiled Pie. But perhaps some of my "memories" are for those that actually have real objectives in the deed log. Great work. I can "polish" the Additional Details if you don't mind. Another day ;) — Zimoon 18:28, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Sure, still lots of work todo :), btw did you notice when the deed The Quick Post of Yondershire started? I did not notice, if it was after accepting the initial quest, or after ending all the subquests... this kind of info I always prefer to add Tiberivs (talk) 18:30, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Not sure. Is there a quest with walk-through that says something? Maybe time for me to activate a sleeping toon? ;) — Zimoon 18:50, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
As the person who originally setup the deed I am fairly sure the original format was correct (Im not the one who did beyond basic details though). I'm also referring to my screenshots from when I did it in beta and main on live and can see that the deed prior to completion does state the objectives to aid and service that are now currently listed under Additional information, not the current version to talk to Postmaster Proudfoot (which may be confusing to folks since hes actually the deed ender not the starter.).
As far as when the deed The Quick Post of Yondershire starts its with the first quest A Route Over Yonder. I just checked on main on live who has only done that quest none of the others and has the deed started. Eldalleth (talk) 05:46, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the confirmation, I'll update the deed Tiberivs (talk) 07:43, 28 July 2022 (UTC).
I concur with Eldalleth after a night's sleep and another workday, I have a memory of seeing the objectives as they look like in LotroCompanion while doing the deed. I cannot explain why the disappear after completion but maybe since they were just "supportive" while completing it.
This kind of raises the question of when the "Lore-text and Objective should be typed verbatim from in-game text as found in the Deed Log" should apply. While doing? Or after completion? — And what if the Deed Log is bugged on this one? Or not?
Either way, the deed is recorded and the walk-through is informative enough, isn't it? — Zimoon 18:40, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
Ofc it is :) Tiberivs (talk) 21:20, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Note on deleting/moving pages

Hi Tiberivs! When you delete (or move) a page without leaving a redirect behind, please make sure to always use the 'What links here' feature (available e.g. on the left sidebar) in order to check for other pages linking to it as well, as you will need to take care of all those links too as part of the process. Otherwise, you will be leaving broken links behind. Thanks! :)
--Stargazer (talk) 20:37, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Sorry I usually use that page, but must forgot something Tiberivs (talk) 15:38, 10 October 2022 (UTC)
Hello! In the last couple of days, you've been moving a lot of Deed pages – a total of 21 moves I think it was – and with the exception of one of them, all the others have left a lot of linking errors behind; where broken links still point to the old page locations. Please go through the list of pages you've moved recently, as soon as you can, and for each of them update all the links pointing to the old page locations (using the abovementioned "What links here" feature). Also, in future please try to be more careful when moving pages, to avoid this. That would be much appreciated! Thanks! =)
--Stargazer (talk) 22:43, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Done Tiberivs (talk) 16:48, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
Great! And a big thank you for all the hard work you've been doing lately, by going through and updating all the Deeds (and also Delvings); it's really awesome! \o/ --Stargazer (talk) 17:17, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Deed Objective lore texts

Hey, i have seen you have been updating lot of deeds lately doing a great work! One minor thing, i have been talking with some other editors on discord and we think it is better to not put the objective lore texts on the page if it doesn't provide additional information. It makes the deed pages unnecessarily long and harder to read. For example here: Harbingers of the Dead (Deed) Thanks. --Drono (talk) 07:29, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Hmzz ok, I can see what you mean. But what would be the guideline, I always add the lore text, as stated in the deed template; Typed verbatim from in-game text as found in the Deed Log.... You've got 4 options afaik if the objective is completed:
  1. No completion loretext.
  2. Same completion loretext as description.
  3. Different completion loretext as description, but for all objectives the same.
  4. Different completion loretext as description, and different for each objective.
Should I (we) only add additional completion loretext in case 3 (only for 1st objective) and 4? If so, we also need to update the deed template ;) Tiberivs (talk) 16:51, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
Was talking mostly case 2, i guess in case 3 could just list it once. As you noted the template says Typed verbatim from in-game text as found in the Deed Log., but that is for the objective. Technically the lore texts are not part of the objectives and one could even claim that they shouldn't be there because of 'spoilers'. Maybe we should make it same as in the deed log on tooltips or in show/hide elements. --Drono (talk) 08:30, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
Tooltip would be a great idea, but a hell of a job to fix :) Tiberivs (talk) 17:40, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

New pages

Hey, can you please fill the summary when creating new pages - can just place 'new' there. Otherwise it pulls the whole text and it makes the logs harder to read. Thanks. --Drono (talk) 09:37, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

never done that for new pages, but makes sense -- Tiberivs (talk) 09:40, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

Spotted Jerboa

Were you able to barter for a Spotted Jerboa and if so where as I cannot them listed under Myrtle Mint?
Sucamarto 11:06, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

No it's not ingame yet, otherwise I would add the additional info too... I got the name from the database ;) Tiberivs (talk) 17:10, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Fennec Fox

Accoridng to https://www.lotro.com/expansions and https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/The_Lord_of_the_Rings_Online:_Corsairs_of_Umbar The Fox is in both the Ultimate Fan and Collectors edition, if this inaccurate? Sucamarto (talk) 17:10, 11 Oct 2023 (UTC)

The Tome of the Fennec Fox can only be found in the Corsairs of Umbar Collector's Edition - Bonus Items!, and therefor should also only be listed as such. If you buy the Ultimate Fan bundle you ALSO get the Corsairs of Umbar Collector's Edition - Bonus Items!, and therefor the Fennic Fox, but saying the tome is also found in the Corsairs of Umbar Ultimate Fan Bundle - Bonus Items! is incorrect. Same for the other items/titles, so please correct them. Titles cant be found in boxes. -- Tiberivs (talk) 18:35, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Pet - Snakes

I had Snakes listed under reptiles, wanna keep them there or stay with Snakes separately?

Hmzz good question, the Snake page has been around since 2018, and since there are multiple cosmetic snakes, I would keep the page. - Tiberivs (talk) 08:57, 14 January 2024 (UTC)

Cosmetic Pet Master Index

For the life of me I cannot see why there is a space between the Butterlifes and Cats section and Huorns and Kites sections? Any ideas?

Fixed it.. check my edit on the Cat (Cosmetic) and Kite (Cosmetic) pages - Tiberivs (talk) 22:45, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

Items and Objects

Hey i see you are adding some quest items, however it seems to me some of them if not all should be objects. Items in the Item: namespaces are those that have physical form in your inventory. Those that you just interact with during quests are not items from the wiki point of view and should use {{Object}} --Drono (talk) 17:10, 16 March 2024 (UTC)

Hmzz never noticed we had a specific template for objects (although these are listed as Items too). The majority of the items I added recently are in the questlog because of drops or usage... Those which prob. should be objects are those without an icon. Anyhow, just tried it out, but it seems an image is always mandatory, which will break tooltips if it's absent. Is this something which can be fixed? - Tiberivs (talk) 17:26, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
