Promotion

Hi there! You've been promoted to ninja a while ago, but your user page wasn't correctly categorized (an oversight on our part). Fixed that for you. While I'm here anyway: thanks for all your work on skills and traits! I've done a lot of work on lore-master skills in the past, but I don't have access to the game right now. It's nice that someone is putting the effort in. :) --Ravanel (talk) 12:38, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm happy to help out wherever I can. RoyalKnight5 (talk) 12:25, 19 September 2018 (UTC)

I've promoted you to Editor! Thanks for your continued edits --Lotroadmin (talk) 06:14, 11 April 2019 (UTC)

Appreciation

Thanks RoyalKnight5, I really appreciate your guardian guide. I need help with that, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Acatlover2 (talk) 11:13, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

I'm not very active on this wiki outside summer vacation, but am planning to contribute again to the wiki in the coming weeks. (RoyalKnight5 (talk) 10:41, 1 July 2019 (UTC))

Nice start of a Minstrel guide. However, I would drop all the 'gained through' in stats section as it's mostly incomplete, incorrect or even redundant I'd say. For vocation: traditionally Historian, to be able to craft your own LIs. --Gisel Avaleazar (talk) 16:25, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for your advice. It might be redundant now I think about it. In the other guides I've written here (Guide to the Lore-master and Guardian) I am going to remove those statements as well. (RoyalKnight5 (talk) 09:19, 16 July 2019 (UTC))

Class Trait Points

I saw that you marked "The Mines of Moria" deed as no longer awarding a Class Trait Point. Have you been able to determine what replaced it? I know my level-capped character hasn't lost any points. Thurallor (talk) 00:21, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, Thurallor. I changed the page Class Trait Point, but only because I found that on the page of the deed The Mines of Moria (Trait Point Deed) it is claimed that it no longer rewards a Trait Point (the page was changed two months ago it seems). I suppose this Trait Point has moved to another deed or quest, but I do not know which one. (RoyalKnight5 (talk) 13:49, 8 June 2020 (UTC))

Critical Response

Hi, I see your change to Critical Response and find the result ambiguous. Should it perhaps read "On landing a critical hit together with Sharp Eye, this effect will be applied on a Burglar"? If that is the case I think it would be even better with "This effect will be applied on a Burglar when landing a critical hit together with Sharp Eye. That will give the Burglar the ..." What do you think? — Zimoon 10:59, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Zimoon. I meant to say that two effects are applied to the Burglar after a critical hit: Critical Response and Sharp Eye (Effect). Thanks for letting me know, I will try to write it more clearly. --RoyalKnight5 (talk) 11:01, 20 October 2021 (UTC)
That looks brilliant, thanks! — Zimoon 12:17, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Captain Trait Trees buff duration

I noticed that you changed the duration of the intrinsic buffs from the various Captain trait tree specialisations, from 30s to 45. However, this does not appear to be the case in-game!? See this screenshot I took just now: https://snipboard.io/5gM0cG.jpg

I'm curious what your source for that duration change was? As there is no mention of such a change in recent patch notes either (although that's not always the case for sure). Maybe there is a Tracery or similar in effect, that is giving an increased duration? Please let me know. :)
--Stargazer (talk) 17:17, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

I knew the 'Sure Strike buffs' lasted for 45 seconds and just checked in-game for verification. Apparently, the trait trees state that the buffs last for 30 seconds, but I see no traits that change this duration to 45 seconds (I have no LIs equipped, so this can't be the case neither).
I will revert the changes to match the in-game trait tree descriptions, but I find it weird that SSG hasn't corrected this yet. --RoyalKnight5 (talk) 08:48, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
You are of course correct that these buffs do last for 45s in-game, which can clearly be seen when they show up in e.g. BuffBars etc. Somehow I knew that as well, from playing the class for a very long time, so I don't know why I didn't think of it before! I was really tired last night though. :O
In fact, come to think of it now, I'm pretty sure these have had a 45s duration since yonks. As in; several years now, if memory serves! So I join you in surprise that these trait tree descriptions still haven't been updated by SSG, but I agree we shouldn't change that until they do.
However, the buff effects themselves – i.e. Focus, Relentless Attack and On Guard – are all correctly listed here as having the proper in-game duration. So I would propose we just link to those from the trait tree descriptions, to help minimise any possible confusions people might have. That seems (to me) to be the best compromise in this particular situation. :)
Any objections or other thoughts?
EDIT: I just noticed they are already linked on those trait tree descriptions, doh...
