Coordinates

Welcome around. I just wanted to explain why I reverted some of you edits. Coordinates make no sense when we are discussing areas or zones. Coordinates are exact, but creatures are most often roaming both near and far away from that point--except stationary named mobs. Locations on the other hand, they are exactly at some coordinates. That includes settlements, named fields, etc., which may comprise a wider section around those coordinates, but the coords are always contained within.

Hence we do not use coordinates for regions, areas, and roaming mobs. But we use coordinates for named landmarks, settlements, and locations of interest, including stationary mobs (also the centre of a patrolled zone). We can always use a textual description, such as "The island Tyl Ruinen west of Tinnudir and in the middle of Lake Evendim,...".

Hopefully this makes sense so that we are in agreement :-)
Thanks for your submissions, it is great to see new editors around!

Hello! Thanks for the heads-up. :-) It makes sense indeed. I will follow your advice next time I add coordinates to some article.

Technique for creating new items

When you create a new Item, please use the tool - "Create Article: New Item" found in the left margin of the page. The pages you recently created did not include the parameter "item_level" -- likely because you copied the page from an old item rather than using the "create new item" tool, or following Boilerplate:Item

  • Indeed, I created these pages by copying parts of other ones to speed things up. I will add the "item_level" parameter to the others as well. Thanks!

Promotion

You've been promoted to Ninja Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 16:04, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

In case you didn't realize, the "item_level" parameter was added (exposed) with the release Helm's Deep. It has always been present, but Turbine did not display it until the HD Epic Battles and "level upgrading." Folks had no idea what the "level differential" meant, as there was no "item level," only "useable by characters of level x". Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 16:33, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the promotion! And to be honest, I don't really understand item levels yet. Will read more about it in the future, when I buy Helm's Deep. For now I'm enjoying the quad pack I bought a few weeks ago. :-) Darvatili (talk) 05:43, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

You've been doing phenomenal work updating all those crafted items and their stats. Thanks for the monumental contributions. :) Sethladan 21:20, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliment! I won't rest until I see the wiki crafting section just like the in-game crafting panel. :-) Darvatili (talk) 15:44, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
